To put it in perspective the Star Wars Mandolorian battle pack has 4 minfigs and 102 pieces and "RRP" is $14.99 even with the Star Wars tax.

These 4+ sets have way bigger "base" pieces that you connect stuff on to so that it's a bit easier for the youngsters. It's probably the plastic of a set 2-3 times the piece count.
