Thanks OP! I live in an area where I can't get rebates on these so $80 is great. I was able to purchase online for pickup. I hope they can find them on the shelf though since there were only 2 left and that's what I need.

got the last one in my area when they were 99 last week. good luck!!
I bought this last week for $120... still same price in my area. Going to wait another week so I can try and have them refund me the difference if it goes down to $80
I can. The Gen3 works with more AC units than the E and has a nice LCD screen with things like weather and a clock. This screen only shows the current room temp when you walk by.

Exactly this. Thanks! Was typing from my phone so didn't expand as much as I likely should have.
Gen3 is stainless steel, has a slightly wider compatibility with various HVAC brands, and have a few more features. Personally I don't think those additional features are worth it for the cost. Also I think for more traditional designed homes, the white Nest E fits in better decor wise. Nest 3rd gen would look better in line a modern design apartment versus a traditional colonial style house.

Ha, I did the post from my phone as well. I guess I type too much on this thing and have gotten faster!
