Sony stands by their product and will continue to provide the updates needed to keep the equipment up to date. LG will stop supporting it after a year or so, and focus on their next big thing.
The LG E9 65" is only $100 + tax Illinois ($1,999) cheaper than this .

I have a 2016 LG model just received an update yesterday i ignore updates never installed them. but this tv may have had updates installed in the past
the only thing i don't like about my model - upscale of standard definition resolution has like blocks or squares or something...visible whey three five feet away from TV.. I am assuming that's what Sony may be better at?

I call BS on this -- Sony has a poor track record on Android and Android ain't stable for TV. I'd go for any non-Android TV anyday, far superior.
