bing.com/news [bing.com] on PC. Simply go here, then click on each link on the left. Each click is 5 points. You can get the max searches of 150 points per day in under a minute. Use Microsoft Edge to get 20 extra per day.
Completing "Daily set" on Bing mobile app. There are three clickable links from the app including one search, one quiz, and one survey. When you string multiple days in a row, you bonus points. This gets 30 to 60 points daily.
Completing news story searches on Bing mobile app. On the "Earn" section, click on the mobile icon and then click on all the news stories until you get the max. This takes the longest out of all of these three. 100 to 200 points daily depending on bonuses.
Doing this alone can get you about 10,000 points a month. Getting points from Rewards app on Xbox and completing Quests and Microsoft Rewards emails gets you more. Xbox Rewards app has the least points per time spent.
Also, here are more details about the rewards and history.
The 12 month Xbox live rewards are typically only available when it is a "Hot Deal". These rewards aren't gone. They are just less common. They just typically only show up when they are a "Hot Deal" about once a year. Points required are around 24k. (Edit - I think these are long gone!)
When redeeming for Xbox or Microsoft gift cards, they are applied to your account and expire within 90 days. Each reward redeemed has a specific expire date 90 days from applying.
When redeeming for Game Pass or Xbox live month rewards, the codes are sent for redemption and not automatically applied to account.
Below is a history of the recent "Hot Deals" (excluding dumb stuff like Skype that nobody cares about). As you can see, there was quite a dry spell recently before this and the last deal.

Does that mean spending it or just putting the code on your Xbox?
Spending it... you have 90 days to spend it. They add it to your account when you buy it. You don't get a code.
Both are same thing now. Once you redeem your reward, the 90 day clock starts. It used to be that you received a code via email which you had 12 months to redeem, and the 90 day clock started after that point. At any rate, 90 days is plenty of time to find a deal on something. Spring sale will be upon us within that time!
Well me and my dad have been using an app for points and we are going to use our points for the new Xbox. It doesn't release till Christmas though.

That is awesome that you and your dad team up doing that! What is the app? I could use some money for games.
