Stocking up for Corona virus

Hey guys,
Is anyone stocking up on "survival items" in fear of the Corona virus? So far I haven't, but I see a lot of the supermarkets empty from people like that here. Are the fears warranted, should I do the same?

I live in a studio apartment. I have a mini fridge with a decent but tiny freezer. I'm disabled so the money isn't there to panic buy. Even if I could there would be no place to store it.
Hope you stocked up on some non-perishables like rice, beans and lentils. I know it's getting harder by the day. Wish you the best.
Also note, the FDA is NOT allowing substitutions. That said, here is a study [desertharvest.com]about using Aloe gel in place of propylene glycol in consumer products. (I'm not sure how it would react to the hydrogen peroxide)
edit again: you will have to know how to calculate volume of solute /volume of solution % : https://www.thoughtco.c
Bleach + Vinegar (chlorine gas)
Bleach + Ammonia (VERY toxic gas)
Bleach + Alcohol (chloroform)
Hydrogen Peroxide + Vinegar (corrosive acid)
Bleach + Toilet Bowl Cleaner (toxic and kinetic)
When the test is available to see if you have already had the virus, I am gonna get it done.
LA, SF, France, Italy, etc all shutting down!!
Once the supply chain workers get disputed (sick), you'll have supply issues big time. Even though markets and pharmacies are running out of things already.
At minimum, 1 canned soup like Campbells hearty soups (that have meat and potatoes and vegetables) per day per person, with at least a 2 week supply.
Dried cereal and bars, cookies, noodles, frozen dinners, etc can be used as well (but keep in mind some items go bad quick without electricity - frozens).
Canned soups, vegetables, fruits, fish, beans tend to be dollar store cheap, last years and survive quakes and floods well.
Freeze dried camping foods last years, too, but are more expensive. Retorts if you find them.
Canned drinks good to have around, too. At least 2 weeks worth of water, soda, seltzer, etc per person, if not more. (Would need a serious quake to break the water pipes. But, having a water filter would be good to have. Even if it's not a camping type that filters to 99.9999%, a good water faucet or pitcher filter is better than nothing if there's water contaminants and no way to boil.)
Toilet paper - just gotta have lots of rolls around. Really no good modern substitute in a distaster.
Prescriptions - extra month or two on hand.
Winter blankets for as cold as your winters get - OUTDOORS. IF the home heating goes, you'll need really warm blankets and clothes.
...
Beyond that, depends on what you're preparing for.
Eg major earthquake or flood, you'll need a ton more in first aid, survival, lighting, etc.
E.g. Tons of trash bags because if the toilet isn't working, you'll need to take care of the poop properly.
E.g.. Body / baby wipes for dry showers.
E.g. Toothpaste and toothbrush
(Yep. Tons of elderly who didn't brush daily after fukushima in Japan died of pneumonia vs those who did. Germs in the mouth.)
Thermogenic energy, muscle mass, and resting state energy burn.
Muscle mass helps generate heat, which explains why men with more muscles tend to feel warm even as the temperature drops vs women.
Many go to the gym to get in shape, and this helps.
BUT, go crazy like a muscle builder and in a disaster, your body is now needing and burning fuel like crazy - first any sugars, then fats, then muscles - all burned off as fuel because the Huge muscles need energy.
Few need huge muscles for their work, so the smart long-term plan is to be in shape for health and fitness, but not to over do the muscle aspect.
Else, you'll be in a situation where you might need to last two weeks without food and the muscle builder might not make it because he's burning 10,000 calories a day just sitting there.
...
Everyone has a percentage that's fat.
Too little for older people and they might not last illness and bad health because they won't have enough reserves on their body to burn through, and can help keep the heat in.
A little belly at such age isn't all bad.

Some people seem to think this is Ebola. Running around like the sky is falling only makes things worse. "Mild" cases now comprise 94% worldwide. That's been on a steady rise from the initial estimate of 80% back a month ago or so. Many people report not even knowing they had it. Yes it is different for the elderly and otherwise infirmed, but the sun still rises, wind still blows, and stuff will still be made. Take a breath.

I guess we should not be trying to make a super sanitizer after all.
700 workers at this plant.
Corona kills anywhere between 0.1% to 15% of the infected, and puts the rest in the hospital/quarantine.
Even 10% fewer employees can impact production, and worse, impacts production because not every one is trained to do everything needed.
...
Supply chain is more fragile.
Even if 1% of the truckers are disabled/sick and can't drive, out of 350 million Americans, 1% of them can't get supplies delivered.
There's simply no easy way to train long haul drivers that quickly, and no way for a driver to double up on the routes to make up for that.
...
People do recover, but like already reported in Asia, some who were positive, recovered and released, caught it a second time!
And during the 2 weeks of quarantine or illness, who will replace those workers?
I guess we should not be trying to make a super sanitizer after all.
Corona?
ALL of EU is locking down, China, Japan, Korea, etc. Across the world.
Tourism, cruises, theme parks, sports, events, all shut down.
LA, SF, NY on shutdown.
Entire school districts shut down? EVEN THOUGH the death rate for the Young is super low!? (Obviously not for the health of the kids.)
Military personnel can't even travel between states!? (Again, even though most of the troops are young)
When major world governments are all willing to take trillion dollar economic hits, worse than they're saying.
That's "normal" public health reporting - rarely telling the public it's a full on panic because they're trying to save their own butts first.
They also don't tell you to "stop" bad behavior because nobody listens. Which is why lice and bugs in the "Bush" down there started to become a serious public health issue in the 80s as the 70s free sex movement took hold. The solution? No hair = No breeding ground = all of a sudden, Playboy etc adjusted people's preferences for "No Bush" with model photos of such. One Public health crisis eliminated.

Ebola burns out faster, so the spread is limited because it kills hosts faster. Can't spread far.
Corona doesnt, so it can infect many more before it burns out in the original host. Then you're surrounded by a ton of infected passing it on.
...
Compare CA (40 million) vs Italy (60 million).
550 infected/10 dead vs 28,000 infected / 2000 dead in a month.
Every 2-3 days, double.
500, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, 16000, 32000 - 12 to 18 days and potentially CA becomes Italy.
It's why SF, LA - major population centers totally shut down this weekend to prevent massive spread!
