It looks like AT&T may be starting a new promotion for the start of the month. I just went to my account to see what is offered since my 100mbps fiber plan is about up. Only 100mbps($45/mo) and 1000mbps($39.99/mo) is offered, no 300mbps is offered, but it was available a day ago for $40, and I saw an ad for it on TV today. If you have AT&T internet, check the plans offered in your account dashboard. There is no mention of equipment charges, but this is for a bundle. Southern states.

AT&T Internet 1000
Includes unlimited internet data$59.99
$20 off for 12 months with bundle-$20.00

Does anyone know if this would this extend your contract for another 12 months? My contract is about to expire so I wouldn't enjoy the faster speed for very long if it doesn't extend the pricing for another 12 months.
I just talked to ATT customer care, and they said that upgrading to the 1000 Mbps will null and void your old contract and not extend the end date on it. The new higher speed comes without a contract, so you can essentially cancel the service anytime without any penalty. So I would suggest you either talk or chat with a rep to upgrade your plan, instead of going through your online account.

Good luck.

We had ATT when we moved about 2 years ago. Put in a transfer of service, ATT somehow managed to screw it up. They made us a second account to which we were unaware until past due bills came for it. We called and explained they messed up, which they admit, and would resolve the second account. Well, 2 years later they still haven't fixed the second account and sent it to collections, hitting my wifes credit. She's called multiple times, made notes of who she originally spoke with 2 years ago and they still can't seem to figure it out and get the collections off her credit.

I wont ever deal with AT&T once the fiber company makes my neighborhood live. AT&T will nickle and dime you for everything. I have to pay $30 - $50/month just from my data overage and I'm stuck on 6Mb DSL. Frown We've been promised U-Verse and Fiber for over 5 years now and there's always some BS excuse on why we cant get it, even though the street behind the housing complex got connected.

The new plan will restart the new rate up to 12 months. In my case, the discount shows in my Internet account to end on March 1st, 2021.

Currently I'm paying $50 total for internet 300. Wanted to upgrade to internet 1000 for the same price but when I talked to a chat rep, he said I need to pay an installation fee, equipment fee plus taxes.

Don't talk to a rep just do it online. If you already have fiber you don't need any equipment or installation.

Thanks OP! Also, when you upgrade to 1000 there is no longer a 1tb data cap. WOOT

Thanks OP. I have not read every comment in this thread but when I checked a day or two ago, AT&T was showing no internet options which was incorrect. Now it only shows the 1000 $39.99 offer. Previously, it shows the 100, 300, and 1000 options.

Partially correct. Not all fiber is synchronous. In the case of AT&T, they call it fiber, but it's only fiber to some point in your neighborhood, then the "extra mile" to your house is not.

Even for businesses, AT&T Fiber comes in two flavors -- Dedicated service (very expensive), and Cheap. The Cheap option is not the same up and down speeds. Nor is the home service.

That has been my experience since getting AT&T Small Business Fiber for a client in SoCal. Cheap, but not synchronous. Also, they filter, even for businesses, so things like mail servers do not work.

Of course, in my neighborhood, no AT&T Fiber. Gotta stick with greedy COX with their data caps.
Are you referring to the old FTTN service? Yes, those are not true fiber. However, the current deployment, at least in the bay area is all FTTH where AT&T actually have to roll out the fiber from the street into your house. With that said, I was super annoyed when they install my house. The first truck came out with only 1 person so I ended up having to help pull the fiber cable from the street into my house. After that's done, we had to wait for the 2nd truck to come out to enable the port in the pole. I ended up missing work the whole day.

I feel like this is a stupid question, but:

A co-worker has AT&T fiber in the area and I'm moving into the same area. The co-worker was told by AT&T that they VPN-ing into work is blocked with AT&T residential internet. The co-worker says they've tried and indeed they can't access work from home.

Anyone else have this issue?

My wife works from home/remotely 2-3 days a week, so this would be a big issue for us.

I use VPN everyday to connect back to my work. I also have a VPN server from work connecting back home to view my security cameras. I have not encountered any issues.

I upgraded my internet service and I'm now paying $40 a month for 1000 mbps. If you're already an ATT member talk to an agent to make sure there aren't any hidden fees.

In my case, since I was already a member I'm getting new equipment, free installation and no monthly equipment fee. If you're a new member I believe you will be charged $10/month equipment fee plus $99 installation. Keep in mind this is bundle price, I have internet and DirecTV that's why I'm paying $40.

If you just want internet the agent I talked to said the promo price in my area (Houston) is like $70 then it will go up to almost 100$ after the first 12 months. In my case since I have a bundle my internet will go up from 40 to 50 a month after the first 12 months. Feel free to ask any questions I might be able to help.
