The screen is the biggest selling point to me. I like the larger size, great color/contrast and brightness. The real-estate is great for photo editing. The glare does not bother me and the brightness has been more than plenty. It is a huge improvement over a Lenovo Flex 15 I tried out. I also had a Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED 4K laptop to compare to and the LG Gram 17 was my favorite. The OLED screen had an uneven brightness vertical band on the right side and I was always aware of possible burn in. Side by side, the colors and contrast were not noticeably different even though everyone raves about OLED screens being so superior. I much prefer the larger 17" and 16 x 10 ratio and not having to worry about possible burn in.
The chassis on the 2020 model does seem a little firmer than the 2019. They redesigned the monitor hinge and it seems sturdier.
The touchpad is the same. I really like it. Yes, it does depress a bit as some video reviewers point out, but it's not a big deal to me.
Battery life is excellent and I have not had any issues with drain while the computer sleeps. I often just close the screen in the evening, leaving it on battery only and when I return in the morning, the charge status has no significant change. I haven't written down the numbers, but I recall leaving it around 80% at night and coming back in the morning and it being near that.
I really like how quiet both generations Gram 17s CPU fans are. The Aero 15 was annoyingly loud, even at idle or low usage. The fans had a higher pitch that I could not stand.
Heat has not been an issue for me. It does get warm more so in the center, rear near the monitor since that is where the processor is. I use the laptop on my lap a lot and it is not uncomfortably warm.
Here are several test results I have:
Novabench:
2019
2020
You'll see improvements across the board for the i7-1065G7.
PugetBench v0.8 BETA for Photoshop
2019
2020
You will see that the i7-8565U actually performed some of the tasks better than the i7-1065G7.
In real world use, so far I have not noticed a significant difference in power between the two. I haven't tried games yet, possibly later. I tried some on the 2019 and it didn't work well as expected.
To conclude, I am very impressed with the LG Gram 17. This is my favorite laptop I have used.

What better in the 2020 version?
Also - did anyone get a keyboard cover, those silicone ones? It would dampen the noise a little bit on the keyboard when typing which would be make it an even better keyboard, I ordered one off Amazon [amazon.com] despite it stating it fits the Gram 17 17Z90N model - it only fits the smaller 2019 LG Gram version keyboard.
Thanks for this recommendation, decided to go with a Wavlink TB3 hub which will afford me a second TB3 daisy chained port. It's rated 85W so should do the trick. Would you say 65W charger minimum to charge via usb c? Can't find official rating anywhere, but I know for a fact connected to the TB3 port of my qnap TVS-672XT it does not hold charge.
Sweet will check it out. Though a bit pricer than the $28.95 Amazon Celicious option could be worth it. I'll hold off on the screen protector for now as I keep forgetting it's not a touch screen ;P

Thanks for the info, but I've already given the laptop away. I'm quite happy with my new 16" MacBook, even though my bank account isn't 🤯😇
Interestingly enough, the screen in the LG is more vibrant than on the new MacBook. The MacBook is supposed to be more color accurate, but since that's not important to me, I wish it looked more like the LG! Maybe I can mess with the settings in my mac?? Anyhow, that's def another definite shout out for the LG 🍾

Yes, 65w is good for this. The one you picked should work.

Macbook Pro has probably 100+ nits greater brightness with the most color accurate screen on the market
But i was impressed by the laptop ended up giving it to my nephew
There is no way the screen on the Gram is more vibrant/bright

Pretty sure I used the wrong wording to describe what I saw when comparing the screen colors etc.
I went to the same image websites on both the 16" MacBook Pro and the 17" LG Gram and compared the same images on both laptops.
The colors on the LG seemed more vibrant, as in there was more "pop" to pictures. They looked like they had more color in them, if that's a thing. All of the images on the LG screen looked much better than they did on the MacBook. And (to me) it wasn't even close.
Again, I know that the LG is less "color accurate" than the MacBook, and maybe by a long margin, but I'm not doing high end photo or video editing. So for me, since it doesn't matter, color "correctness" be dammed, I liked the LG screen better lol.
I hope that makes sense
Would someone who has an LG gram check something on their touchpad? It seems to have a built-in delay from when tapping the touchpad to when the click is registered (and using a mouse has no such delay.) There is a setting in windows 10 touchpad settings, for touchpad sensitivity. You can choose Low, Medium, High, or Most Sensitive. But on my LG gram, there is basically no difference at all between any of these settings. They all have the exact same amount of built in delay. I wonder if it is a hardware problem. If anyone has access to an LG Gram and can tell me if that is the same on yours, or if you can actually remove the delay completely by setting to "most sensitive". I'd be grateful to know.
