I was able to return my Gram 17 2019 model to Costco before my 90 days and purchased the 2020 model. My primary reason was the improved, wider keyboard with regular number pad. I found the 2019 a bit cramped (backspace in particular I'd miss) and the condensed number pad annoying even though I originally thought I would live with it. The improved processor and integrated graphics are a plus as well. I have been using the new model for a few days now and ran a few tests as well. Here are my comments:

The screen is the biggest selling point to me. I like the larger size, great color/contrast and brightness. The real-estate is great for photo editing. The glare does not bother me and the brightness has been more than plenty. It is a huge improvement over a Lenovo Flex 15 I tried out. I also had a Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED 4K laptop to compare to and the LG Gram 17 was my favorite. The OLED screen had an uneven brightness vertical band on the right side and I was always aware of possible burn in. Side by side, the colors and contrast were not noticeably different even though everyone raves about OLED screens being so superior. I much prefer the larger 17" and 16 x 10 ratio and not having to worry about possible burn in.
The chassis on the 2020 model does seem a little firmer than the 2019. They redesigned the monitor hinge and it seems sturdier.
The touchpad is the same. I really like it. Yes, it does depress a bit as some video reviewers point out, but it's not a big deal to me.
Battery life is excellent and I have not had any issues with drain while the computer sleeps. I often just close the screen in the evening, leaving it on battery only and when I return in the morning, the charge status has no significant change. I haven't written down the numbers, but I recall leaving it around 80% at night and coming back in the morning and it being near that.
I really like how quiet both generations Gram 17s CPU fans are. The Aero 15 was annoyingly loud, even at idle or low usage. The fans had a higher pitch that I could not stand.
Heat has not been an issue for me. It does get warm more so in the center, rear near the monitor since that is where the processor is. I use the laptop on my lap a lot and it is not uncomfortably warm.

Here are several test results I have:

Novabench:

2019

2020

You'll see improvements across the board for the i7-1065G7.

PugetBench v0.8 BETA for Photoshop

2019

2020

You will see that the i7-8565U actually performed some of the tasks better than the i7-1065G7.

In real world use, so far I have not noticed a significant difference in power between the two. I haven't tried games yet, possibly later. I tried some on the 2019 and it didn't work well as expected.

To conclude, I am very impressed with the LG Gram 17. This is my favorite laptop I have used.

starts on March 11 according to their march coupon booklet ...wait 8 more days, or u can buy now and get price adjustment later. The 17" lg gram does NOT come with touchscreen, never did. The 15.6" with i7 does have touchscreen.

Good deal as this same model on Amazon but not even in stock is $1849.99 LG Gram Laptop - 17" IPS WQXGA (2560 x 1600) Intel 10th Gen Core i7 1065G7 CPU, 16GB RAM, 1TB M.2 NMVe SSD (512GB x2), 17 Hour Battery, Thunderbolt 3 - 17Z90N (2020) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082XQR86P/

Only difference I see is Costco has a custom model build # 17Z90N-R.AAC8U1 with a smaller 512GB SSD vs the rest of the market? Anybody know if it's 1x512GB or 2x256GB?

I didnt mean to sound negative. This is actually my favorite laptop and i think it should be front page. I have the last gen model. I dont do anything cpu/gpu intensive so i love it and the new model has a much better fan and better overall thermals according to dave2d

Yes noted that, but just curious on how it's different to the rest of the market model. I only see it being a smaller SSD capacity of 512gb vs market 1TB which I'm curious if anybody knows the drive configuration. Any other differences to note?

I have this laptop and it's probably the best laptop I've owned. I upgraded by adding a Samsung 970 NVME. Great screen, light weight, good performance. I don't love the keyboard but no laptop is perfect. Prior to the LG all I've used for the past 20 years were Thinkpads and MacBooks. My Thinkpad just sits in a cabinet now. At $1200 this is a good deal.

Actually Korean YouTube review said 10th gen throttled more. and someone suggested it's because power needs to be shared with a more powerful iris plus. The lg gram also performs 15% less than other laptop with same processor due to how thin the laptop is for thermal. Also not the best for tb3 gaming because it only has 1 fan. I had the 9th gen cheap but ultimately returned it. But I have to say, this is a nice form factor and that is why it cost this much. Now if Walmart motile will make a 17" with a better screen than their 14" and use Ryzen 4000. I believe they both use magnesium alloy for the light weight

You may be right.

I checked the cinebench r15 and r20 scores for the 2020 lg gram 17. It did worse than my lenovo 720s with an i5-8250 cpu and worse than my lg gram 17 2019 with both undervolted around -110 for both core and cache. Im sure if you undervolt the 2020 lg gram it will beat both of my laptops but stock lg gram 2020 is still underwhelming.

For what it is worth, my wife has the 2019 version from Costco. We love it. It feels high quality and the battery life is amazing. She prefers it over my XPS 15.

This is so light that it's almost too hard to believe even when you're holding it.

Sweet. Do you have the Costco exclusive version with the 512GB vs 1TB config? Can you tell us if both nvme slots are taken up or just the one and in what capacity?
