I went to Iceland and needed a solution to back up my SD cards onto an external hard drive, without bringing my laptop.
I take my SD card out of my camera, insert it into this device, plug my external hard drive into this device, and use the app on my phone to transfer the files from SD card to external hard drive.
Then I returned it and just bought an extra SD card.
