1. Better reflection handling in bright rooms (perfect for a bright living room with lots of seating)
2. Much better viewing angles, if you're not sitting directly in front, due to the panel type.
3. Excellent for sports and gaming
4. Not ideal for dark rooms (theater rooms) due to no local dimming (helps black levels)
Bonus: It has eArc which is great for Dolby Atmos passthrough audio setups.
At the time of this post, Best Buy has this TV on sale for $929 new, so open box wouldn't come near this price. This is a good deal contingent on your needs.
Though it is on the upper part of the non OLED section.
It's a 2019 model and the key part of the model number is the number 850
The higher the number the better. Better mid tear TVs are the 900 and 950.
All of the XBRs are above the budget models and below the
real premium ones.

Is this panel better or worse?

Its IPS, so it will have great viewing angles, but blacks will appear gray. It does have the Sony X1 processor, and good motion handling. Only the 85" version of this TV is a VA panel.
I'd need to know specific model numbers to compare, but those TV's will have better contrast because they are VA panels.
