No, this is only to take the thatch out of a lawn, or build-up. You need to aerate and use humic acid or similar to slowly break down the clay.

Hopefully, it will go down in price a little more ~80, since not many people will be buying it in spring/summer.

Coupon gone -- typical Amazon bait-and-switch.
More like you snooze you lose. It's been up for probably 6 hours.

I just ordered one and didn't even know what scarifying is. (or how to spell it) but if it takes all the dead grass out of my lawn this will be very helpful. My lawn is covered in Ground Ivy. I really hope this rips all that out and leaves just the grass so I can maybe hyperseed the patches.

I have this. It works great!!

A few things to keep in mind:
  • The "collection bag" just for-show. The capacity is tiny
  • Mind the power cord
That sorry-excuse-of-a-collection-bag... I just dethatch without the bag. This also means a lot of raking afterwards. Frown

Since it is electric, you'll have to mind the power cord while you dethatch.

Agreed. I use a walk behind blower to clean up what's left behind!

I sharpened the blades on the scarifier and plan to verticut around once monthly on my Bermuda starting in a few weeks. Those with warm season grass are just starting into their peak season.

Can't go wrong with a rototiller bro. I would recommend a controlled burn, followed By a rototiller soon after.
