I've had 4 of these - they had a 2 year warranty, and all of them died before the warranty was up except the last one, which died right after. These are pretty much just e-waste right out of the box

I have been mowing my backyard for 3 days and believe me it's no way near a quarter acre.

Crazy how the price has gone up in these. Got one for $77 3 years ago. Works well for my yard but I kinda wish it would die so I can get one that folds up.

I bought one in June 2018 from Home Depot for $142 and it's worked well for 7 years until last week when the battery seems to no longer take a charge. EDIT: It is working again now. It's worked fine for mowing a small backyard--maybe 35'x65' on a single charge (around 2200 sq. ft.--so much less than the claimed 12,000 sq. ft. capacity). I suspect it easily could go 5000 sq. ft.on a single charge, depending on height and density of the grass. I suspect it could only do 12,000 sq ft, with very little grass height to be removed (lopping off less than half an inch or so).

Even though this only has a 14-in cutting width, it took less than 10 min to mow about 2200 sq ft of yard. If you've got a 1/4 acre yard, you may want to get a 20+–in wide mower that will be at least double or triple this price.

Be aware that the charger for this does not have an an overcharge cut-off, and the instructions say that if you do not remove the charger after it finishes charging (in about 3-5 hours), the charger still trickle charges the battery and this may kill the battery sooner.

They also caution you not to store the battery in a discharged state--charge it right after mowing--and not to charge or store outside when the temperature is very high. Mine was stored outside in summers that are regularly over 100F. These are recommendations similar to most battery-powered mowers.

I'm now looking for a replacement 28V Lithium ion battery (one that costs less than this whole mower), since the mower itself was still working fine, and I am considering getting a third party battery.

EDIT: The mower is working again! It seems the charger was not working properly and the red charging light would turn off even though it was still charging the mower. So I was able to charge it now, and it is back running again! Over the past couple of years, the barrel connector to the charging port needed a little twisting to make a good connection. No need for another battery for now.

Wow, that's insane! You kept buying 3 of these even after they died!

Also, this refurbished model only comes with a 6-month warranty.
