Bought it last weekend, turned out to be a bad TV on the functioning side.
Cons:
Turns on automatically after it being left turned off (especially at night).
YouTube app doesn't work even when connected through Ethernet (shows a black screen when accessing the app and its unresponsive)
WiFi tends to cut on and off (tested with built-in streaming apps, however the issue stops when using an Ethernet connection)
When words or colors are illuminated it leaves sort of a noticeable white glow around it (first time owning a VA panel so not sure if this is normal or just my unit)
Pros:
This TV has a good VA panel. The colors pop (with literally little to no calibration) and the colors are accurate. The blacks are nice and family thinks it looks fantastic when watching at night. Verified 60hz 4K and tested this using PS4 Pro and an Nvidia Shield.
We decided to return it, it's not functioning across the board and we went with a Samsung instead. I can see why it would be on sale. Then again it could just be my unit, however I did see articles on Vizio's website pertaining to the TV turning on automatically when left unused and certain built-in apps like YouTube not working so they appear to be common issues.
Did you by chance see if this behavior was occurring with the TV not connected to the network? I am curious if the TV was performing some update in the background which was causing it to reboot, or if there was some Wake-on-LAN (WOL) packets being sent by another device on your network.
Bought this during BF sale for 599 but then had to return it due to light bleed at the bottom right corner. While I had the TV it was great for 4K content but upscaling was poor when using Vizio native Smartcast. If you are going to use an Apple TV or Firestick it should be fine but it could be annoying as you have to switch inputs after turning on the TV. Great TV for the new price and can even get 3 additional years of warranty for $35 at Costco.

They must have added the PX after I was comparing the Vizio M with the Q70. They're fairly close spec wise but the M is much cheaper.
The PX is much better than the Q70 though I've seen it for $899.99 earlier if another sale comes up on it. Vizio does HDR+ now too after an update. The scaling is better on the Samsung I agree, though it's on 720p and below content. I gave up cable and the majority of what I watch is at least 1080p now so it's not a big issue. VRR kind of has limited application. Both the Vizio and Samsung have DSE / banding
I understand but motion is better on Samsung and banding its not as wide spread as Vizio. If their panel were more reliable I would say PX is better. I also went into costco and compared two screens and colors were more accurate on Samsung and when I turned dynamic mode on the Samsung it was comparable to the PX. HDR+ is also gaining a little bit of steam with more support. It might have more dimming zone but it is how they utilize is more important

I just got the M658-G1 from the Dell. For anyone wondering, it does have HDR10+ after the TV updates. The way I confirmed was, if you watch HDR10+ content and access the picture settings, you'll see "HDR10+" at the top. Same thing with other HDR formats such as Dolby Vision.

No DSE on the 740D. All 7 series TV are DSE free since they are edge lit.
If you really want to talk about DSE..Vizio is not much better. At least with Samsung you can pick you panel version to avoid DSE issues. 4 digit code on side of the box.

Don't know if someone responded to you or not but my tv does that sometimes and I think it's because people are connecting to it via bluetooth?

They trying to shift the focus from toilet paper and rice
Because the demand for toilet paper and rice is so high...the demand for TV is low causing the prices of TV to plummet. If this virus continues, expect that Vizio M series to be 250 and the PX to be 500 in another month.
Law of supply and demand.
Costco is dropping prices on TVs right now to make room for toilet paper, hand sanitizer, rice, flour. The TV are taking up valuable floor space for high demand products. I now see stacks of rice and toilet paper where they use to be Televisions. It is really amazing.

You sir are correct-o-mundo!
The streaming issue with their SmartCast on this television is horrible horrible horrible... I had to buy an Amazon Fire Stick 4K ($24.99 -the lowered price doesn't appear until checkout) to get problem free streaming
The picture quality of this tv is fantastic though
Killer price for the M658-G1 at $499, it was still $599 on the shelf on Thursday when I was at the store. I don't think I've seen it less than $599 with free shipping before.
It's a great TV. I purchased the M658-G1 4k 65" Vizio on Cyber Monday 2019 for about $180 less than I paid for a 1080p M-55" Vizio 5 years before. This set seems so much brighter and colorful! I've had ero problems.
Compared to 20 years ago, when I paid about $1299-ish for a 35" Sony CRT (tube) TV (pretty sure it had component inputs) that was only 480i (480p?) and weighed 180+ pounds, this was a bargain!
I paired this my new AppleTV 4k (I'm not new to AppleTV, but I did need to upgrade to the 4k model to enjoy this set) and my TiVo Roamio OTA DVR and it's working great.
Honestly, I really really wanted to upgrade to the Vizio 65" PX model (or 75") but had I purchased them, I'd feel like I'd need to hang onto them for a decade (due to the prohibitive price) and with changing technologies I might not want to do that, so for 60% of the 65" PX, I picked up this model I'm pretty happy and don't need to wonder if I should have gotten the 75" (as they don't make this model in a 75"). So I settled on the M658-G1 and perhaps in another few years, I can upgrade to a larger higher quality for less again.
That said, I see a LOT of complaints about the 65" and 75" PX series, blinking issues and other complaints that I have (fortunately) not experienced. Would I prefer that this TV was a little bit brighter? Yes. Do I want any of those issues? No! I feel I made the right choice.
Be sure to download the Vizio App to you phone/tablet as it makes doing adjustments with color/brightness a little easier to do while watching TV. It also lets you easily rename your inputs on your phone screen and do other typing with the keyboard.
The apps on the TV were a little lackluster, but the Amazon Prime app and the Disney+ did a decent job of streaming during my limited testing of it (I mostly just think it's hard to FF/Rew and I love my AppleTV's option of rewinding 10 seconds and automatically turning captioning on and replaying the scene and turning captioning back off). The app screens are too busy with many many apps you likely won't use and no decent way to hide them.

We should be seeing a sell off due to economy and loss of sports. This has created a high supply low demand season. TVs will go lower.
Not just TVs, everything will go lower because we're about to enter the dark part of a global recession and consumer spending is going to fall off a cliff
We've been hearing global recession for a long time and people are somewhat numb to it, but the chain of events caused by china virus is going to be a financial tsunami. The people getting sick part is practically trivial by comparison - that we'll get over.

Plus, if you use a Costco credit card you get an additional 2 years (total of 4 years).
