I just tried it. I put my card info in and it went through. Then, I got a page saying unable to complete request. I checked and it still says 3/9/21. I'll check it again tomorrow because they took my $15

The website shows 2021 for me, but the app shows (correctly) 2022. I have an account with UPS and I've never been able to figure out how to see charges as they happen. I assume the cost of the extra year will be on my invoice since the app shows the extended date.

Meh...
Cant leave personalized instructions to the driver as was advertised. There only their own instructions. Like leave at the front door or rear door. I thought they will give an option to type our instructions.

How can I make UPS delivery guy to knock the damn door instead of leaving the package there?

Try the gate or entry code field. It might work but not sure. Idk if it pops up each time or only if they request it on terminal. The other fields are static because that is how they pop up on terminal and show up in reports,

Does this track packages coming to your address and/or just your name?

It does both. You can add additional names to an address

Was able to add this additional $15 promo after having renewed a couple of days ago with the $20 one.

The only thing is that during the checkout screen it was correctly showing my new expiration date of 03/11/2022, but after completing payment, I'm still seeing 03/11/2021. I guess it takes sometime for that to update?

Both in a way. First, you have to confirm you are the 'owner' of the address. That is, prove that the address is directly related to you. As I recall, they take LexisNexis-like information (it's not from a credit report but will look like it) for verification, quiz you on it. If you pass (correctly answer questions like, "Which of the following streets have you NEVER lived on", I think it is somewhat instant, if not, they mail you a verification.

After that point, you can add name variations. They will take into consideration name, phone, address, and email in 'weighing' if a package is yours. They are good it at. Many times I know about a package before I get a notice from the shipper about it. This is really interesting when your family or close friends try to send you are surprise gift.

For anyone else out there wondering what the heck this is. Differences from free MyChoice:

-UPS SurePost Upgrades https://www.ups.com/us/en/help-ce...ition.page - still don't understand what this is

-Confirmed Delivery Windows 2 Free - googling for this finds lots of complaints about paying for this and deliveries happened at normal time anyway. These complaints may have been because delivery drivers weren't even aware of the service at the time???

-Reschedule - this one seems useful to reschedule a delivery to specific day

-Reroute - this doesn't seem useful, just use a different delivery address when you order the package???

SurePost is when UPS uses USPS for the final leg so it could add 1-2 days longer vs. UPS Ground.

"UPS SurePost is typically one day slower than UPS Ground. On the last day of a typical ground shipment, UPS delivers a parcel to a customer's home. With UPS SurePost, UPS delivers it to the nearest USPS branch instead. USPS typically delivers the parcel the next day, adding that extra day to the parcel's journey."

Check the UPS app. The website was showing the 2021 date for me, but the app was showing 2022.

.....

MyChoice Premium allows free SurePost upgrades, where as with 'free' MyChoice one has to pay $3.50 fee.

In short, SurePost is a discounted shipping service offered by UPS to shippers that allows the USPS to deliver the package to the resident. (The 'last mile' of a delivery being most costly to UPS because (currently) it can't be automated, requires a worker, and expense to get it to your home. ) Cheaper for shipper, but longer time to get there.

In long:
To do this, your package moves around in UPS's logistic system. (Trucks, Aircraft, etc) bulk with other packages. Then, UPS will deliver your package locally to the U.S. Post Office, who will then take it to your home. UPS saves money because even taking packages to the Post Office can be done in batches. They get a different rate than you would get at Post Office because the packages are presorted and presented to the local Post Office ready to go. The U.S. Postal Service generally will drive past every mailbox each day. So having an extra package already ready to drop at a mailbox is a small marginal cost. Anyway, some of this savings for UPS (not having to take your package the last mile to your house) is passed on to the shipper. The process delays your package because UPS sends it to the Post Office, and then the Post Office brings it to you the next day or so. So, this 'upgrade' means that UPS skips the Post Office part and brings the package directly to you.

That said, UPS has a smart system in place. If its logistic system sees that a package is coming to you by another shipper that is not SurePost but would arrive the same day they would take your SurePost package to the Post Office the system will flag it, and since they would be at your home anyway, they automatically 'upgrade' it for free. [Since the marginal cost of giving you two more more packages at the same time is less than paying the Post Office to deliver it.] Likewise, this 'free upgrade' will happen if a close neighbor gets a package the same day they were expecting to deliver your SurePost to the Post Office because the logistic software will know that the truck will be within feet of your home.

I know you did not ask all of that, but that is why they offer this service. If you get a lot of packages, you will get many of the SurePost upgrades for free.
I use a lot of no-rush shipping options with Amazon. (to get the digital credit) Many of the packages come SurePost so it's nice to get the packages quicker. Although, in a way I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul. (getting credit at Amazon but paying UPS a yearly fee to make them faster). LMAO Peace
