Sprint WILL RELOCK your unlocked device as they did to mine. Not a single incident as friends and family of mine got their RELOCKED to the sprint network. We all had unlocked devices when signed up. Now all our phones are locked to Sprint. Thats illegal.
You have to stay for 90 days to keep the $300 and their unlock policy is 60 days, so while I agree they should not be re-locking phones, you can get it re-unlocked after 60 days and before your 90 day requirement is fulfilled.
Thanks! Ordered the BYOD Amazon SIM on Monday and was sitting on whether to switch my Iphone over. I felt a little dirty about going back to Sprint. I left them 4 years ago (after 18 years as a customer) and said I'd never go back.

Glad I did. $300 is better than $100 and I can still port out in a few months. No contracts on the Kickstarter plan. They automatically waived the activation fee by doing it online as well, but after looking at my confirmation email it says there will be a one-time credit of $30 within 3 invoices however that plays out. My first bill will be charged 30 days from today.

I was concerned with the Amazon reviews saying they were sent 4 of the same SIMs, but it worked flawlessly. Over chat the rep told me which one to use. I also asked if I could double down on both the $300 and $100 Amazon SIM promotion, but was a no go. Worth a shot anyway.

Well, good news DP for costco upgraders like me!

I guess my risk paid off (at least somewhat). Sprint denied my rebates saying I upgraded my devices (to iPhone 7 for $500 costco rebate). But status updated to approved few days ago and I got my cards in the mail! Yay! Now, waiting for costco gift cards which will take another 45 days to complete requirements : )

Anyone knows how to check if a Sprint iPhone 7 has been unlocked without actually trying a ATT sim card or something (dont have the phone in hand, only have IMEI, ESN info)?

I tried Verizon BYOD, it says that the device is eligible but asking me to make sure that its unlocked from the previous carrier. Which means, I dont think its doing an unlock check.

For a BYOD device that's not Verizon-branded, the IMEI checker can only verify that the model's hardware is compatible with Verizon system. It wouldn't know whether or not the device was unlocked by the current/previous carrier.

Try the ting Boyd checker and see what it says. I believe in the past when my sprint phones got unlocked it passed and not have some financial obligation message

You can try with Apple support (online or phone). Couple of years ago, I talked with an Apple online rep and she confirmed my 5S was unlocked. Only IMEI or Serial Number is needed.

You can also search GSX Report on ebay. That report will give you all details about your phone. Usually, it just takes about $1.

There are also some web sites which can check iPhone unlock status. But I never used them. Google "Unlock iPhone" and you'll see some.

Google search result:

How can I tell if my Sprint iPhone is unlocked?

iPhone: To tell if your iPhone is unlocked, go to Settings> Cellular> Cellular Data. If you see Cellular Data Options, then your phone is unlocked.

I just checked my phone at ting and you're right, it says balance owed. I'll check again after its unlocked.
