I believe these are essentially a Q60, which is a bummer, because I would have had one of these by now if they were equal to a Q70 or better.

Greentoe deal at $950 (55"), f/S, and no sales tax might still be better for most.

Can you do your own art on these or are you stuck with Samsung's subscription model?

Yes you can upload any images you want via USB stick. I think you can also upload via app, but I found the usb option easier.

Don't Greentoe deals charge tax or at least take tax amount into the final deal amount? I was counteroffered an amount that took sales tax into account when I used them.

Suppose it depends on your state. No sales tax to ship greentoe to South Dakota.

What is the purpose of this? Is it a TV or is it just used to display art?

I think there are only 6 or 7 states that don't charge sales tax on internet sales and like 5 with no state sales tax at all.
So for most there will be sales tax and whatever vendor is actually selling the item isn't gonna eat the tax.
Greentoe and the other site don't make it clear when you make an offer

Yes, I've been looking at these since they came out.
Actually had the exact idea then found Samsung already had a product out. Given the right application I have a perfect spot in my living room for this. 55" and a nice framed border perfect for me to display backlit art or pseudo window to a nice landscape

I was thinking about pulling the trigger but seems to be lots of issues with the proprietary cable failing. I've had issues with optical in the past getting kinked and bent so not surprised.
