1) Does the iPhone 6s need to stay on an active prepaid Verizon account for the full 60 day period to be unlocked after 60 days? The answer may be NO, and you may be able to insert a Verizon prepaid SIM to activate it and then remove it and 60 days later it will be automatically unlocked without needing to buy a second month of service, according to this Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsKGtYzLm2U
2) Does the iPhone 6s need to be activated to start the 60 day unlock countdown? The answer is most likely Yes, even though your receipt may say, "Item Active within 3 hours." You can search for "Apple Warranty Check" and input the IMEI to check if it is activated. If you do not have an Apple account you can also check on this site: https://eimei24.com/
It will likely show that your iPhone 6s has NOT been activated yet, and you need to insert a prepaid Verizon SIM to start the 60 day countdown..
There are messages (Starting with post #157) in this thread with instructions for having it unlocked if you have a Postpaid Verizon account, but this takes some effort and calling Verizon.
3) Can you insert a SIM from a Verizon MVNO and have it work before it is unlocked, and not need to activate with a prepaid Verizon SIM? Yes, this seems to work at least with the Visible SIM and maybe Total Wireless according to soem posts. It is not confrmed yet with other Verizon MVNO SIMs like Xfinity or Pagepluscellular.
EDIT: PageplusCellular does NOT work, nor does Xfinity Wireless SIMs. In fact do NOT insert those SIMs as it may mess up the SIM and you may no longer be able to use them
UPDATE: EDIT: in post #240, freebirthtoad says the Xfinity Mobile SIM does not work:Post #240
In post #297 there is further confirmation of problems trying to use a Xfinity Mobile SIM and that it may mess up activating the phone.
It's frustrating... Target doesn't know how to sell it and on top of it Verizon customer service is very poor in this pandemic. Spent hours on call to Activate the prepaid... have 3 authorized credit card entries and wouldn't get it to work. ...also doesn't work on redpocket.
Had something called purchase lock and Verizon is telling me it's stolen phone from store....
OK. Here we go with another unlocking question but this time with AT&T. According to some online sources, AT&T phones may be unlockable instantly by going to their website:
On the other hand, It may seem Verizon has an exception to its 60day unlock policy for its perpaid phones, and they may require 12 months service--making this original deal not as good. Consumer Reports has anarticle about this from last September:

Verizon: This carrier automatically locks any phone bought through Verizon for 60 days. However, after that 60-day period, your phone is unlocked—with no extra steps needed. To confirm your phone is indeed unlocked, you can dial *611 from the device or call Verizon's customer service at 800-922-0204.
The one exception to the 60-day rule is Verizon prepaid smartphones, which are locked to the carrier's service for 12 months. After that, you can call and request an unlock at 800-922-0204.

This is for those who do not have the option of moving a SIM from a postpaid Verizon phone to this perpaid phone as a way to unlock it by callking Verizon--as was mentioned earlier in this discussion thread.
Verizon unlock policy actually states if purchased from Verizon it's 60 days but if you purchase a 4G phone from a retail partner (i.e. target..) you should review the back of the box to determine the lock period. Mine say 1 yr or $150 in payments are recieved

Yes, that was mentioned before, but mine had nothing on the back nor did it have an attached SIM with details. I'm waiting to find out from someone before I open the box. There is much conflicting info that unlocking can require 12 months service.
You also may want to check if that 1 year requirement is still applicable or if it has been superseded by new policies.
Donot want to confuse anyone. Just adding my experience on how i got my iphone unlocked. I got 2 unlocked. One I purchased on 17th March and another on 18th March. Both are unlocked now.
I purchased a Prepaid iphone 7 with the same sim card packet info - and after 60 days it unlocked. The attached packet is just the sim card which probably was manufactured before policy changes, and separate from the phone manufacture date. It's going to unlock after 60 days.
60 days of paid service or 60 days after purchase?
Will this work on existing prepaid Verizon account?
The consensus is that if you have a prepaid Verizon (or certain other Verizon MVNO prepaid, such as Visible) SIM you should be able to pop it in and it will work. If you have a postpaid Verizon SIM and account, it requires a little effort by calling Verizon, as BrightApparel628 described in previous posts in this thread.
I am still waiting to hear from anyone who has this iPhone 6s from this deal who was able to get it to work with the Xfinity SIM right from the start (also a Verizon MVNO, but not confirmed yet by anyone if it works immediately without unlocking).

Thanks
Got one in eBay. DOA out of box new. Shocked me. It's shrink wrapped and everything. It was busted. No more eBay for me.
My local target showing 249$ can anyone provide zipcode where it is showing 75$ so I can ask for price match?
You may want to input nearby zip codes which may have more influence on matching the price, then keep moving farther out until you find one that has the $74 price and shows in stock.
I'm not sure how much help finding a price match in a state 2000 miles away would be for you. You may want to indicate what state you're in.
LOL Your fear will make you sick before any virus. Not even near as bad as the flu. Just looks at the stats on the CDC website. I've been going everywhere. Not going to pause my life or be scared because I'm told to.
Hope you are still ok.
This way of thinking make The US and EUROPE are getting hit so hard compared to Asia. So sad.

Finally Target took it back and refunded money.
All for nothing but drama.
Details are appreciated.
