I applied the coupon and ended up at $29.99... was there something else you did to get down to $20?

I was wondering the same thing. One of the verified purchase reviews state the following:

"The plugs themselves work fine. No issues with initial setup or connection quality. As others have noted, you need to download the AUKEY app, register your account, and add the plugs on there before you can add them to your hub (look for "Smart Life" service for Google Home). Note that you do NOT have to provide your location on the AUKEY app. Also, you do NOT have to give the app any of the invasive permissions it'll ask for on Android, it works fine without them. I used the phone number option for account confirmation, which some say is more responsive than the email option."

Could anyone comment on how these Aukey smart plugs compare the TP-Link Kasa smart plugs on sale now at 4 plugs for $40? (https://slickdeals.net/f/13913942-kasa-smart-wifi-plug-lite-by-tp-link-4-pack-hs103p4-39-99-fsss#commentsBox)

I'm struggling to see what makes the Kasa's worth twice as more as compared to these, is there some functionality difference that I'm missing? Thanks in advance for any help provided

It would appear so.
As res0a9mn mentioned one reviewer said he'd used the Smart Life app.
Another reviewer (for the 2-pack version of this plug) mentions that the Tuya app worked as well
https://www.amazon.com/product-reviews/B07CC9S4MS/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_viewopt_kywd?pageNumber=1&filterBy... [amazon.com]

And at least this version of the manual for the plug even mentions to use the Tuya app
https://images.aukey.com/en/downl...Manual.pdf
which I think is the supplier of smart plugs for many resellers, and urlhasbeenblocked is a version of the Tuya app.

For those using Home Assistant, it appears that these can be flashed with Tasamota. I bought a set to try it out.

It will go down by $10 when you check out. That is when the coupon is applied.

It is a good price but after awhile you run out of ideas for these things. After the Bestbuy Amazon Plug $5 deal late last year, I still have 5-6 plugs still in their sealed boxes. I have 2-3 older KASA plugs in use as well as 3 or 4 of the Amzn plugs but can't find much of a reason to open the other half dozen.
