I'm new to mesh systems end looking to upgrade my wifi since I have some dead spots. Is mesh the best way to go or get an expander?
How good is this system or what is the best mesh wifi to get?

Mesh is better. I have the orbi system and it's been great. I also bought an Ally system from microcenter $40 for my parents which kills wifi signal like crazy and it works well for them.

This is a very good system. I have it and have installed at the in laws house too. I used it to replace a ubiquiti system and this works much better for me. I have one hard wired system and one with wireless back haul. Both work great. I would say that if cost isn't a problem stick with the triband. They perform better.
I have 5 triband Linksys and they work good. The dual band were not as good and sold them. The best way to use them is with a wired Ethernet backhaul to a switch. If using them all wirelessly, stay away from the dual band ones as the tribands use a dedicated 5ghz band to mesh them.
Be very careful with this. Linksys Velop has a lot of issues currently with Smart Lights and other devices. They pushed out a firmware about 2 months ago and they broke a ton of things. It was awesome up until then and Linksys is still working on a fix for this. It has caused many headaches for users.
In my opinion, EERO is the best on the market right now. Support isn't good though if you have problems.
I had major compatibility issues with Velop, tried lots of advanced settings to no avail. When I dropped Xfinity and went to streaming through Rokus, that's when it all went downhill. The Velop would drop the Rokus off the network at random. It also wouldn't allow our Ecobee thermostat onto the network at all.

Then would this one be a lot better. I feel like I have to upgrade since I'll be home for so many weeks.

And don't waste your time on a dual-band mesh system (especially if you're going to not use ethernet backhaul).
If you are looking at a deal for a Honda, just spend a little bit more and get yourself a Ferrari!

Or is the mini an inferior product?
