If you go to Bookit.com you will get a popup that details cancellation and the details of what next. It is pretty straightforward with not a lot of legalese.
"Your RESORT booking will be cancelled automatically...... As we are currently unable to process refunds to you, please contact your bank for options available to you as a cardholder."
I had a trip booked with air the first of May. I had been watching it anticipating the need to cancel (and it appeared that we could with no penalties or issues) but was holding off for a few more days to see how things settled. So this caught us by surprise. I do have access to my "itinerary" which does go to the bookit website. it shows a refund of about half (guessing it was accommodations minus airfare) with the word "no" beside the word "issued." In checking with the Airline it notes that the flight is still booked. In inquiring to cancel I get the "contact the travel agency.
I have contacted my CC company and started a dispute.
Also, from what I have read on other forums, at least a few are on vacation in resorts or hotels to learn that their reservation was never paid for leaving them with paying for their accommodations "again." While that is another issue and another string, it does appear that
While many are struggling, this is not good at all. There is a note at the bottom that they plan on coming back. But be assured that there will be at least one patron that will not be back should they crack the doors open again.

They probably already paid the airline for the airfare to hold your seat. Chances are the ticket is still valid.

They likely will not pay the hotel until you arrive; and will never do so.

They have no reason to care about the paperwork, but technically they could cancel the airfare portion.

My advice is just call your credit card company and dispute it for services not delivered. You'll get a refund.

Bonus points: If the airline ticket is still there in a couple months, either fly it or ask the airline if they can put it on a voucher. However if they refund it it'll go back to Bookit (and it'll never be passed on to you).

This is no big deal really, you're not out any money.

Doubt that Bookit is going to be the last failure that we'll see during this crisis, and travel companies tend to go down messily. When the tide goes out you get to see who's wearing trunks and who's not.

Ohhhh. I feel so naked.

We were turned away at a foreign border after a full day of travel and the travel agency is not answering the phone or emails although they did send out a blanket email to everyone who is booked during this crisis saying that if we were affected, we could rebook within the next 18 months. I am afraid they will go under and think we may end up without trunks on that trip.

Ouch. Honestly, I would be VERY hesitant to use any of the travel companies out there (Travelocity, Orbitz, Priceline, etc.) for the next four or five months. This is going to be ugly, ugly for them, especially coming at the height of spring break/summer vacation season.

I had no trouble getting a refund from Expedia for a museum admission for 3 in Boston, but you are right that it will only get worse. We worked with a much smaller company and I do expect that this will push them under. Expedia is one of the bigger companies that should be able to pull through.
