Samsung T5 (and the other popular SSDs) are SATA drives that cap out at ~450 Mb/s.

This drive is NVMe which caps out at ~1050 Mb/s.

The only way to get NVMe speeds is by having USB-C port that is either 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3.
If you have a redesigned MacBook then you have Thunderbolt 3 and can take advantage of NVMe​ speeds.
