As a lot of you guys have pointed out, Costco isn't actually selling the GamePass membership, this is a conversion deal. I bought the Xbox Live cards from Costco b/c I was more comfortable doing that then going with G2A or CDKeys or whatever, but you can save a few extra bucks going that route as well.

Also, this isn't open to existing GamePass subscribers. It looks like you need to be a new customer to get the $1 offer.

Finally, you MUST load all 36 months of Xbox Live to your account before upgrading. The "trick" is that the upgrade will retro up to 3 years. If you upgrade and then add Xbox Live, it's going to convert $ for $ instead of month for month. So 3 years at $5/mo. = 1 year at $15/mo.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm brand new to the Xbox world and some of this was probably common knowledge.***

Microsoft has an offer now- $1 for your first month of Game Pass Ultimate (includes a bunch of games, including Kingdom Hearts 3, Forza Horizon 4, Minecraft, Halo, etc.). They'll also convert up to three years of Xbox Live Gold Membership into Game Pass Ultimate when you upgrade. There's some reference to "conversion rate", but 36 moths = 36 months.

Right now, Costco is offering 2 years of Xbox Live Gold for $95, and 1 year for $55. If you buy both for $150, then add the $1 trial of GamePass, you will end up with 3 years of GamePass Ultimate for $151. IMO this is a pretty good deal- GamePass Ultimate is regularly $15/mo.

I just got one of those refurbed Xbox One X's today, and signed up all of this this afternoon. It worked flawlessly- I have about 30 games queued to download overnight.

I think that this won't work if you currently have a subscription of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. You'll need to let your XGPU subscription expire first before taking advantage of this.

Keep in mind you're only eligible for the $1 Game Pass Ultimate convert promo once, and you can only stack up to 36 months of time.

Why the TD on this comment? If I previously used the conversion promo and my Xbox ultimate and gold are now expired, is there a way for me to convert again?

This is not really a "deal" as it is a FYI - since $95 and $55 are the normal price for Xbox live gold at Costco. They do actually go on sale sometimes though.

Once the existing conversion promo expires, can we do this again?

But that normally doesn't include game pass?

So might be best to purchase the one year for $55 and 'wait' for the 2 year to go on sale to stack it / add it on in the future? (or vice-versa?)

YMMV: I had used the gold conversion with the $1 trial before, but pulled the trigger too fast and didn't add enough gold. So that expired a couple months ago.

I used the $0.05 per day price mistake that later got cancelled. So that might have changed something in my account.

So all my subscriptions had expired and last week I was checking and got the pop up that if I subscribed to ultimate all my gold would be converted to ultimate. I got 3 years of gold from for Brazil (cheapest), used a vpn to redeem it. Then subscribed for a month of ultimate and all my 3 years converted to game pass ultimate. Again, a big YMMV, but check just in case. You can get 3 years for around $100

The deal is that the $1 conversion is back for those that didn't top up when it launched...the XB Live Gold portion is no big deal...

If everything is expired, and you didn't previously do the $1 conversion:

1) Add 36 months of Xbox Live to your account. OP is suggesting that $150 through Costco is the best price for it, but if you've been offline this long, you could probably wait around for "US" deals for ~$35-40/mo or as someone above mentioned you can get XBL through Brazil even cheaper (and activate on a VPN through Brazil).

2) Look on your Xbox Dashboard for the $1 promo to upgrade your XBL service to Ultimate and your existing subscription converts directly to Ultimate (which is a combination of Gold and Game Pass).

3) Download Ori and the Will of the Wisps and enjoy it. It's an amazing game.

Maybe note in the title this is a conversion deal. Because costco is definitely not selling game pass cards.

I did this in December after buying an Xbox One X on Black Friday. It worked perfectly and I've had an endless amount of awesome games to play on both my Xbox and my PC. I'm good until December 2022.
