Some not-so-great reviews on Amazon, and CCC shows it as being $70 for most of the past 3 months.

Maybe an ok deal for someone that NEEDS a printer now due to WFH, and I don't know how much the virus has affected printer cost and supply. Just supplying some info.

Got this printer for $40 during the holidays. Great printer especially if you're looking for duplex printing and feeder scanner (though no duplex scan). Still on the free trial for ink and will hopefully be able to downgrade to the free plan after it ends.

How does it work? What's the free plan?

My Brother printer that I got from a deal here prints at 36 PPM. Mine isn't color though. Still this one is quite slow at a max of 10 PPM

HP has "instant ink" plan where it's pretty much a subscription plan for ink. 15 pages a month is free, 50 is $3/month and so on. The printer comes with 4 months trial of their paid plans however it says you arent able to downgrade to their free plan if you do the trial. However I've read that if you talk to hp support they can downgrade it for you.

The 4 month free trial is a sham. It basically just uses the ink your printer shipped with and positions that as "free" time on the plan.

That's not true, I've been shipped 2 additional sets of ink during the free trial.

Word of caution to those looking for the "free printing". I was digging around and finally found how you qualify. "Select HP printers (with a regular or Was price of $99.99 or less) offer a free option — 15 pages per month for the life of the printer.

To take advantage of this free option, do not purchase the HP Instant Ink card above. Instead, the plan will be presented as an option when you enroll your qualifying printer at hpinstantink.com."

Not to say you may not be able to downgrade to it but still a heads up.

I just retired my Officejet Pro. The cost of print heads was more than I paid for the printer. WM was down to $30 for the Laserjet Pro m15a. I lost color and pay more per page but toner does much better with infrequent use than ink and the up front savings vs a good color inkjet buys lots of toner.

I meant on average people aren't going to go over the ink the printer came with in 4 months, but clearly if you plan to use it heavily it's the way to go
