If you go ultrawide you have to go curved

You will find yourself shifting your body left and right on a flat ultrawide in order to see both ends of the screen and it will get annoying.

With a curved ultrawide you just turn your head
I have this monitor and like it, but also I bought it over five years ago and it retailed for around $400 then. While there doesn't seem to be many options for 29" monitors, I know the LG 29" equivalents (LG29UM68 and others) have gone for $180 or less several times in the past a few years, so on that criteria alone I don't see it as that much of a price drop.
I also don't think there's any need for a 29" ultrawide to be curved. You might be swiveling your head more, like you would have to with more than one widescreen monitor anyway, but the screen provides a clear FOV even if your face is a foot away from it.

Been looking to get an ultrawide monitor for WFH (I have two monitors I use for gaming already and 2 old ones for work.. but wanted to upgrade the old + I'm used to ultrawide from work). Clueless about this stuff though, can someone sell me on why I should or shouldn't get this?

Yeah it'd be mostly for Excel. I have two for my desktop for gaming... I have a docking station + 2 old crappy monitors for work right now so debating. My work monitor is a 34" ultrawide so trying to debate if I should keep searching or go with a 29"

Good point! My current one in the office curved. I'll keep this in mind and keep looking - Appreciate it!

Take it that this won't be very good for some light video/photo editing?

This seems to fit exactly what I was looking for in something with a large amount of screen, a reputable brand, a reputable seller, and at a reasonable price point.

Not really good reviews according to amazon. People seem to have a lot of glitches and vertical bars.
