It has to be noted that Asus uses false advertising in promoting some of their gaming laptops. This and other Asus laptops do not have MIL-STD-810G certification. What they mean is that some termal (and probably a couple of drop) testing have been done at the factory that also used to test real MIL-STD-810G certified equipment.

I have seen such false adverts also from MSI in their laptops promos. If you actually go to MSI website and read small script in their "MIL-STD" claims you will see that they backtrack on their claims to avoid legal responsibility.

The only laptops I've seen that adhere to MIL-STD-810G are some Dell Latitudes and Panasonic Toughbooks.

Technically the CPU is significant, approximately 27% faster depending on the benchmark for the 9750h vs the 3750h. And the GPU deference isn't actually that much, approximately 3% better depending on the benchmark for the 2060 vs the 1660ti, also the 1660ti was released 2 months after the rtx 2060. It's very confusing because the GTX 1660ti doesn't have the dedicated Ray tracing cores so they didn't want to name it "RTX" since that is their "Ray tracing" line, and that's why it shares the older GTX name. The only real benefit of going with the 2060 over the 1660ti would be for the Ray tracing, but my understanding is that you have to turn the settings down so much in order to a decent framerate it isn't worth turning Ray tracing on for a 2060 in a laptop.
I'm not trying to promote the 1660ti.

I didn't say that the 1660ti had any technological advancements in those two months, I was only trying to reply to the idea that it was "older" and therefore slower.

As far as the 3% better goes, im just talking about the GPU and I got that number from
https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...1vsm701609

I like both cards as well, and wasn't trying to say they were the same, only trying to provide a little more detail about the actual differences. Not just people's assumptions.

Also, just to clarify, I didn't say that the 1660ti was 3% faster than the 2060, I said that the 2060 was 3% faster than the 1660ti. And that's just based on the average 1660ti mobile vs the average 2060 mobile, actual laptops will very significantly based on thermals and how much power they are given.

I'd do this probably. The Costco's has a sub par graphics card which is the big thing. The monitor is larger but if you want this to be a work computer too you can always hook it up to a monitor and be just fine.

There's a huge difference in power with the processor. But only a small differcen in graphics cards. Neither are great deals. They're okay deals.

Totally agree. The EVOO 1660 ti with all these specs and 15" is still $999 at Wal-Mart and the extended warranty cannot be beat price-wise.

Depends on your priorities, since they have some differences:
  • Intel vs AMD, though both are highly capable processors.
  • 15.6" vs 17.3" screen. I like 17.3" because I don't tote my gamer around - that's what the Chromebook is for.
  • 512 GB SSD vs 256 GB SSD + 1TB spinny magnet drive. I haven't checked to see if the ASUS will take a second drive, but 512 GB total is pretty small, for my needs.
  • As already stated, the GPU difference is significant, if you game. Of course the GTX 1660 in the MSi is no slouch, but it is older and inferior to the 2060.
Those are the main differences I see. ASUS products are generally very solid, though I'm partial to MSi. I'm typing this on a nearly 5 year old MSi that is still going strong. The GPU is outdated but I installed Doom Eternal last night and it plays surprisingly well. I'm almost ready to upgrade too but I think I'll pass on this one. Either one would probably more than satisfy most people, me included, but I'm being patient and waiting for the right one for me.

If I'm not mistaken both MSI and ASUS have a 1 year no questions asked 1 time replacement. You can step on it, drop it or spill it they still replace it. You just need to make sure you register it

Costco is only a 1660ti although it does not fall far behind a 2060. That one also has a 17in vs this 15in. Both cards will definitely use the 144hz screen, but I prefer a bigger screen for gaming. Whichever you prefer, but yeah, the costco deal is also $100 more, so there's that, too.
