    The packets are better, this one has corn meal filler as its #1 ingredient. The packet has "spices" as its #1 ingredient.

    A reviewer says this "premium" seasoning makes the meat gummy because of the corn meal. They also say it's sweeter tasting compared to the packets. No thanks, make your own it's incredibly easy.

    Y'all should buy the raw ingredients and make your own for not much more, and it tastes about 100x better and you can cater to your specific tastes. It's super easy and there's a ton of recipes out there!

    This, for what it's worth, is about the worst taco seasoning available. Half of it is just filler anyway.

    Pro Tip:
    1. Brown your ground beef or turkey. Drain the fat.
    2. Add one can of this [walmart.com]. Fill the can 1x with water and add that too.
    3. Simmer until most of the liquid evaporates.
    4. Enjoy.

    It's not too spicy, has no fillers and it's cheap. It makes great nacho meat as well.

    I highly doubt it'll be cheaper unless you're buying in huge bulk. Even then, it's cheaper by the weight, not total cost.

    I buy the bottle of Ortega seasoning and despite the top ingredient being corn flour, I never noticed a gumming like texture. Good to know that I should avoid any with corn meal.
