This one, or Sony 85 f1.8 or a used GM , or the Samyang f1.4 or the new Tokina 85 f1.8 ?
Any suggestions ?

If you have the money, go for GM otherwise Samyang is the next best thing in terms of rendering. If you want the fastest auto focus and cheapest lens, get Sony 85/1.8.

Definitely between Samyang/Rokinon 1.4 or Sony 1.8. Can't go wrong with either

Looking for a good lens for astrophotography. Will this cut it?

Wouldn't 85 be nowhere near wide enough?

If you can afford this, then why not. I've only heard great things about this lens. But price is holding me back since this is only my hobby, not a way for me to get paid. Might be worth an investment if it is your line of work. If not, I'd just get a cheaper alternative. I have the rokinon f2.0 12mm (or aka Samyang in other countries) which I love for the price and quality of pics. Can't say much about the their 85mm since I do not own it, but I've seen reviews on youtube, you should check those out. Rokinon has been the go to of other who are in a budget.

You'd need something lower than 85mm. Somewhere in the range of 10-18mm

This is a great deal for an amazing portrait lens. Probably one of my favorite lenses in my kit.

I would hold onto your wallets, prices are dropping all around and new photo gear rarely holds is value. You will be seeing tons of gear offloaded online by people affected by the unfortunate job market collapse.

This is the answer, The Samyang also struggles with video(detail shots).

No reason to get this when the Sony FE 85mm F1.8 exists unless you want/need image stabilization

Would get the sony 85 1.8, cheap, light super fast and sharp. Nice to have 1.4 but for the weight and cost of the GM i rather get the regular sony

Definitely go with the Sony 85 1.8 if you're trying to decide between these two.
