I plan on getting one of those too. You can actually pre-order it with this deal and get $25 off.
Since most of my impact sockets are 1/2" I am thinking of going with one of them, is there a reason I am not seeing as to why the 3/8 version seems to be more popular?

I think most people generally use 3/8 more and therefore have more 3/8 sockets. Also, the 3/8 stubby has the same torque specs as the 1/2. That said, I'd go with whatever you have the most sockets for.
Oh dam I may do that then. I just think I would get way more use out of that. Could then sell my 3/8n standard ratchet prob. With almost that same torque specs and smaller profile seems like a no brainer for another 40ish bucks

As others have menty the 3/8" and 1/2" produce the same torque. Keep in mind that it has three power/speed settings. I use my 3/8" with my Allen and torx bits and on much smaller fasteners like 6mm bolts(thread size, not head size) on the lower settings. It can just about replace a 1/4" hex impact with the right selection of sockets. I felt like those lower settings would have been wasted due to my lack of 1/2" sockets had I got that model. It all depends on what you're working on and what you've got in the tool box.
