I use "fake 4k" to refer to horrible 4K releases like Casino Royale, Inception and Ex Machina. They literally look like the upscaling is done by a $60 bluray player.

Just to preempt the "It shows as $0.00 for me" (or $1.99) comments, that means you've got digital credit they're applying. You can check your no-rush credits here [amazon.com].

What is the take away of that video, especially towards the end when discussing of scaling algorithms?
Better to build a home theater PC... rip your blu-rays, use madVR to upscale using NGU algor, etc, and get something that can look phenomenally close to 4K. Certainly better than that low res fauxK crap the people stream... Which in most cases is not nearly as sharp as a 1080p bluray.
you can even set up a Plex server so you can watch your stuff anyway you want.
It is amazing that most 4K streaming movie are not true 4K... Upscale by the studio can look pretty good. But it's still not 4K and people are buying 4K.
I still hear people screaming that the Xbox one S ican upscale it's games to 4K. And it's not true 4K.
But most people don't think like that when it comes to the movies. If it says 4K, it must be 4K.
Just bought.
You make a good point...you can't beat how he defeated the hijackers after wishing to be big, then crashing the ship into the Hudson with no casualties but then getting stranded on that island only to be reunited with Jenny, his childhood crush, after all those years until he got a job as a magical prison guard and they bought a house that needed so many repairs it almost tore them apart. Also, I think he killed her because he's a lady killer.
Ok, I didn't see that last one.
