For cutting tough sealants/caulks like urethane, old butyl, etc. Would be a bit of an overkill for silicone, but would work for tars if you spray WD40 to help keep from sticking to blade.

I've been planning to do my kitchen backsplash but I have the 3" granite backsplash already and I'd like to remove it. Would the do the trick?

So, just saying, if you already have a worn out starlock blade (wood, metal, whatever) ...you can turn it into one of these instead of throwing it away. Just use belt sander, grinder, etc. And put a nice flat end on it. Can even make it sharper than these...
