I just copied the number from the Groupon voucher and overwrote my existing BJ's membership number on my existing account. Clicked save and it automatically updated the exp date to a year later than my current exp date, so like 4/30/2021.
Here are the instructions from the Groupon voucher:
To create an account online to begin
shopping at BJs.com:
1. On a computer, copy the code listed under
"Redemption Code" on your voucher. On
mobile, copy the code listed under
"VOUCHER." This is your BJ's Membership
Number.
2. Visit http://gr.pn/BJsAccount and enter the
Membership Number into the "Membership
Number" field.
3. Enter your first & last name, and ZIP, then
click "Continue" to create a password.
Just take the new membership number from the voucher, after purchasing the Groupon, and apply it to your existing online account. It automatically added 1 year to my existing expiration date which was the end of this month. Perfect timing.
This does NOT add a full year onto your existing membership. It starts a new membership and ends on 4/30/2021 if applied now.

I just tried this, my membership was good until 10/2020. Now it is good until 4/2021.

So yeah, if you are near the end of your membership this is good. Otherwise YMMV.

Where to apply the voucher number? I have my expired account with BJs. Thanks!

That's awesome. The fine print says it's for new member only. Why are the odds that they will block you or cancel your membership for doing that, I wonder?

Parents use this so I'm considering buying and extension for them.

Do you enter it under promotion code on the BJ's website when you go to renew?

Yes you can always opt out of Auto Renewal. That is what I have been doing for a few years since these Groupons always seem to come up right before I need to renew, and no way is it worth $55 for me.

Been wanting to try BJ's for a while now since they opened up over by me last year. I'm already a member of both Sam's Club and Costco, however for twenty bucks why not.

I think this replaced your current membership with the new one, instead of extending the existing one.
You mentioned you overwrote your existing membership ID on your account.
This would be great way to keep your existing online account, but you are still using the new membership.
This method should only be used if your membership is ending in a month or two. * and dont care about getting a new membership ID #.

I've been renewing "new members only" membership for years with the same name/address/driver license..... You realize these memberships in warehouses is all BS, right? It's just marketing and crowd/stats control, nothing else. There's a very large profit margin on products, and some more than others (like their own Berkley-Jensen for example)... Their membership fees nets them billions in revenue as well. I do prefer Costco over BJ hands down as their food selection is superb compared to BJ's.

I appreciate the instructions, but I'm not quite following here. These instructions appear for creating a NEW account? I don't get where in these instructions it links my existing account? Confused

I'd like to keep my existing membership ID (had my card for 21 years). How does one apply this to an existing account?

I'm sure I could google and get some more insight, but for someone with Sams and Costco membership already, does BJs offer anything different/better deal? $20 seems reasonable, but I see 10x number of Sams and Costco deals posted here. I don't want to buy an xxxl sweater when I wear a large just because it is on sale.
