You can watch this guys review of the new AX Wifi 6 routers. He does AX Mesh routers comparison to single router reviews. He does the same test of going from the basement to the other end of the house on the 2nd floor. From what I saw from the reviews, basically the ASUS GT AX11000 WiFi 6 router seems to be a single router that can handle the coverage of 3000 sq ft home on gigabit internet. However, it's much more than the $100-200 router price range at about $400. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j...rI8&t=704s Start at the 7:30 mark of the video as he goes further and further from the router and tests the wifi speed on his gig internet.

I have this router (the Best Buy model AX58U), in terms of features such as WiFi 6, it's amazing. However the WiFi range is left to be desire. I placed it in the center of the house (~1700 Sq feet), and covers most of the same floor. It can only cover about 500 square feet a floor below with strong signal but YMMV depending on the walls and floors in your house.
Check out this website (I am not affiliated with it). He provides good information on exactly what you are asking... good luck.
I'm looking for a router to replace a couple of Linksys EA bridged routers to cover my <3000 sq ft house. I have 3 wired streaming devices, 5 iPhone devices, and a few wifi laptops, and a wired desktop on a 150Mg Xfinity service. Wifi is sometimes spotty, so am looking to saturate the house with a great wifi signal. My neighbor down the street has an Asus RT-AC3100, I can see his signal at my house, so was thinking about getting that. Since this AX3000 is newer tech, am I better to go with it or is there a better alternative? Thanks!

How's it's AIMesh feature? I assume it's an ASUS standard?
If you want a new router and want Wifi 6 and don't need 2000Sq ft of coverage - this one will do 1500 feet with central placement and get you in the door with wifi 6: https://www.walmart.com/ip/TP-Lin.../584566855

Have you compared it with anything else? I recently bought a $100 router and was disappointed by the range. Returned it and ordered this one and I did not see any improvement in range whatsoever. I installed them in same exact spot. I figured the issue was the layout of my house maybe?

also looking for replacement options for 8-year-old asus n56u. to be honest, I would hate to spend more than $250 on a .. router.
3,400 sq ft 2 floors. no wifi 6 devices yet. Approximately 15 wireless clients mix 2.4 & 5 at home. not looking for airmesh at the moment because of costs.
is ASUS GT AX11000 is only recommended option? i saw the costco tp-link deal for $300, but while making the decision, it was gone :-)
p.s. have a basic internet from xfinity 225mbps/15mbps speeds (no other internet providers in my area).
p.p.s. pulled the trigger on ASUS RT-AX3000. will test & report.

Don't know, not using the mesh. I prefer using another router as an AP via ethernet.
