This post is either a flat out lie, yours were defective, or you need to get your hearing checked.

You need to select the wood grain color instead of black one.

Just as others pointed out I paid about this much for the R1700 Series BT and just love love them. These look like a slightly bigger better set for a great price. Grab them!

For what it's worth, I picked up the R1850DB for $140 last July and paired them with it a Polk PSW10 ($90) and have been pretty damn happy with the sound for the price.

While these don't have the subwoofer out, I suspect that based on my experience with the R1850DB and the larger 5" speaker, these will probably satisfy most people for small spaces.

How does it compare to vanatoo speakers?
I haven't heard these edifiers, but they cost a little less than half of the vanatoos. From personal experience the T0's are super nice if you've got the budget for them and are well worth it

Anybody use these as PC speakers? Are they overkill? I'm no audiophile, but I listen to music while I work and do some casual PC gaming.

My R-15PM got canceled yesterday, so it's good timing for me to order this instead.

For anyone interested, the R1280T refurbished seems to be back in stock for $72 after the same discount code.
