This folding trailer only takes up 24" x 63" of floor space when folded, so it can be stored just about anywhere, but unfolded, it can handle up to 1195 lb.. Add plywood decking for a 48" x 96" bed. I really like my trailer, but it took me a good 16 hours to build including the side boards. You wouldn't realize it by looking, but it's held together with about 80 bolts. Improvements I'd make:

-Repack the bearing grease. The stuff it ships with is designed to prevent rusting, not for actually driving on.
-If you want to be able to fit 4x8 sheets with sidewalls up, you can't just tac the walls to the stakes because it would make the box slightly less than 4x8 in dimension. I ended up cutting stakes into the sidewalls and inserting the walls directly into the stake pockets.
-Get some brackets to allow the sidewalls to quickly lock together so you can convert easily between walls up, and flat trailer.
-Throw the included wiring into the garbage. It will disintegrate very quickly and you'll just have to replace it very soon.
-The tongue is 1 7/8ths" which is annoying. I prefer 2".
-Attach a latch of some sort to keep it folded up. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped a side before I put a latch on there. It would mess someone up pretty good if it dropped on them.
-The casters are garbage. Replace them if you actually want to push the trailer around when folded up.

It's going to rust wherever the paint is chipped. Probably not a big deal though.

I had a folding trailer and parted with it. Really ask yourself how often you use it per year, the storage and maintenance of it, and whether its worth it compared to how incredibly cheap uhaul trailer rentals are. The nice thing about the rental is also that you get to rent the trailer appropriate to what you're moving.

In the OP details it mentioned camper trailer projects but I suggest you get 1720lb capacity version of this trailer instead. It goes on sale for $350 and a lot of people confuse the two because they are the same size. So anyone dead set on building a camper from a folding trailer that's rated up to 45mph, consider spending an extra $80.

tempting but those few times i'll need a trailer can always rent a 4x8 from uhaul for $15. for $270 thats 18 rentals.

I haven't been to the ecomodder forum, but I've done most of the fixes here after figuring them out the hard way.

This is smart and I wish I did it to fit full plywood sheets. To get around it, I keep the sidewalls off and use ratchet straps. I'll probably go back and rebuild the sidewalls.

Harbor Freight had at least one recall on the lights and wiring. They sent me a new kit that I used when mine called it quits. It's LED and slightly better quality than what it came with.

I picked up a 2" from Tractor Supply Company for about $20. IIRC, I had to either enlarge or add some holes to bolt it onto the trailer.

I use a ratchet strap to keep it folded, but this would be much better. I think I'll do it.

YUP. I had to replace these with larger ones to roll it over the joints on my very inclined driveway. It wasn't very safe before that.

This trailer is perfect for people who have a garage to stash it in, but don't have much yard space for a "real" trailer. It definitely serves my home landscaping and woodworking needs.

Is the Super Duty worth the extra money? It typically goes on sale for $339 (not on sale at this time). Should I wait for it? or go for this heavy duty?

It was just on sale for $350 last month. Normal price is $450. If you can get it a few times a year it's just a regular thing, not a slick deal. For perspective, people would be really annoyed if I posted every harbor frieght item normally $45 on sale for $35.

Got the heavy duty version of this and it was a very good trailer. I built a wooden platform for it which came off and allowed the trailer to fold up. The lights and other parts were fine. I sold it years later and it was about good as new. I did take it on a few longer trips going 70 mph.

It's a cute little trailer. BUT!!! I've been towing (and backing) trailers for over 60 years. All types, two wheel, tandem, four wheel farm wagons, gooseneck and fifth wheel. That's why I STRONGLY suggest that you get no shorter than a 12ft trailer to tow behind a car. There a problem backing trailers which I refer to as the short trailer/long truck problem. If the trailer turns faster than your tow vehicle steers (because it's relatively too short) it is an absolute PITA to back. People who've never used trailers always want to buy a short one because they figure that a long one will be too hard to back up. Nice idea, but exactly backward.

I can back an 8 foot trailer with a car, but it's a challenge. 12s are not hard, 16s are dead easy. I don't personally own anything less than 12 (one exception: I have an 8 footer that I use in the yard behind a lawn mower). And I have been capable of backing a four wheel farm trailer towed behind a forage harvester towed behind a John Deere 70 with hand clutch. That was when I was 14. I once backed an 8 footer behind a 73 Galaxie with manual steering down a 50 foot alley with 6 inches clearance on each side. In one shot, no stopping.

I tow often with various tow vehicles and various trailers.

So when I tell you to avoid a short trailer, I might just know what I'm talking about.

For the past 2 months I have been looking for one in my area NY and have not had any luck. Definately great deal...just have to find one. Wish they had inventory lookup at local store.

I totally forgot about that. Definitely wait for the "super duty" if you are going to haul heavy landscape materials. 1200 lbs doesn't get you very far with rock screenings. Their "super" duty won't get you much further, so you may want to skip these altogether and get a proper heavy duty trailer if you need to haul that kind of stuff.

I have a tiny yard, so it works just fine for me.
