To setup this TV as a computer monitor, it is a must to change the input to PC. That should get rid of lag and make things optimal for PC use. Follow the below link to adjust advanced settings.

I can weigh in on this. I've used a Samsung 40" 4K TV as my primary PC monitor for over 3 years until recently where upon I switched to a UW Lenovo Y44W-10 for my primary display.

Pros:
-4K res
-HDR
-Cheap!
-Lots of space for productivity work! I divided my work in to 4 quadrants on my primary display for daily usage.
-High PPI / per $
-Did I mention they are cheap? Got mine back in 2017 @ Costco for $289.

Cons:
-Even with Game Mode, input lag will be higher than most PC monitors (esp gaming ones). It is noticeable in FPS gaming, but you do get "used" to it. I'm not a big online multi-player type, so this didn't bother me much.
-GSync/Freesync, unless your shelling out $$$ for LG OLED, you won't get VRR or GSync/Freesync2 features on a TV.
-Refresh rate, You will be capped at 60 Hz all day/er' day.
-Ghosting, I got used to it for my gaming and especially during productivity work. But having now moved to a 144 Hz display. Wow, just wow. It's night and day.
-Sleep mode, TVs are NOT equipped/aware of display input re-activity (obviously by design). You will always be dependent upon the physical power button or remote to turn it back on if you ever sleep your display or computer.

Hope this helps anyone considering using a TV as a primary monitor!
Sort of. This monitor uses PWM to give the illusion of dimming. This is done with constant flickering which will put strain on your eyes when viewed for extended period of time (eg. office work). For basic short term use, it is probably fine.
Great TV. I have the 55" and 43". Couldn't be happier. I spent $55 more via Amazon 1.5 months ago on the 43".

I love the Magic Remote which allows you to use the remote as a pointer. Super cool feature. Mix it with Screen Airplay from my Mac. Really great investment.

This EDGE ISSUE is an LG thing.
I was at Costco today to buy it before reading this post and noticed the edge disappearing on some text as I walked by.
The Vizio seemed better than the TCL.
The Samsungs on display seemed to be the best at not having this issue.
I was planning to use the LG as a PC monitor, but no more.
what model would the 43" equivalent in samsung be?

Even on real lg monitor. 27" lg 2560x1440 ips monitor. The edge issue due on panel and backlight has space in the middle.

Sony ips tv is perfect. But price is $$$.

Tcl v40 has better angle view than tcl and samsung. I bought each tv 40-43" from costco early last year to find the best one. Tcl and vizio were $220 , samsung was 260. Lg was 280 . I pick vizio v and happy ( must use old firmware and disable internet for keeping not updating new firmware, new firmware mess-up chroma 4:4;4).

Va Angle view: vizio>tcl>samsung.
Last week bough lg. And love view angle.

Hdmi out from graphical card should be enough. Make sure to set 60hz.
On the tv side:enable uhd and gaming response

The attached pics show the edge issue. Take a look at the file names. From a normal sitting angle (i.e., your head is center of monitor), the first characters are not readable. However, if you move directly to the edge then you see the whole name.

Is this an issue also with the other TVs (TCL 43" 43S423 and Vizio 40" V405-G)?

I am pretty sure. Tcl 4 43" and vizio v40 40" do not have it.
But..... lg ips 43" has good angle view. The best candidate for monitor purpose.

haha yeah of course I can move the icons over. This is just a nitpick. But if other TVs don't have this issue then it's something to consider.

Other than this minor thing, I don't have any other issues. Overall, I am happy with this TV as a monitor.

Sony ips 43" has no lg edges issue. But the price is $$$ compared with lg😁.
I almost got 43 sony ips tv from bestbuy outlet. $340 early last year.
Next day returned to bb outlet for getting the tv. It is already gone🤨

I tried cheap hdmi cable from my spares ( do not remeber where i got that). It worked but sometimes the screen is getting no connection randomly hahaha.

The cable works on coreelec kodi chinese box s905x without issue. Could be

Could be cheap hdmi cable can not provide enough bandwith or big signal attenuation /loss

One thing I worried about with using a TV instead of a monitor is that there is not standby mode on TV when computer sleeps. So when your computer sleeps, the TV stays on and displays a "no input" type message.

However I noticed that this TV DOES turn off after 15 minutes of displaying the "no input" message. This is a plus for me, as now I don't have to worry about having left the TV on when away.

I guess other TVs would do this as well but there is no documentation about it. Even with this TV, I didn't see this standby feature mentioned.

Also, I think 15 minutes is default and can't be changed as there is absolutely no setting that mentions it. I'd prefer if there was an option to reduce the time, but I'll take what I can get.

There's no such thing as HDMI 2.0 cable, High Speed is what you need...better yet, Premium High Speed.
