So I've been an Arlo user for 4+ years now and honestly I wouldn't trust this system as my security system or anything that really requires recording. Its spotty at best. And while I've never used the Ultra 4K model, I can tell you the Original, Arlo Pro 1, Arlo Pro suck. Half the time I can't even get the UPS guy dropping off a package and I've setup 2 camera's in the front of my house at different angles to chain off each other.
Not currently a member. Is 799 price after manufacturers savings? Where can you see manufactures savings to apply to possibly another vendor? Wondering if worth become a member at added cost of 60.
I use ring doorbell 2 and not happy with the missed motion and lag in video playback either. Was thinking of trying arlo 4K but now not sure. Vortex Radar did a nice review of home security cameras recently worth checking out https://youtu.be/6SK-pc84ohk
I have the arlo pro 3 (3 camera kit) now which i'm mostly happy with. The reason I want the ultra is to cover certain blind spots with the 5 camera kit and i feel like when I pinch to zoom even at 2k the quality is not great. i'm hopeful 4k will make the difference i'm looking for when zooming.

$300 manufacturer's savings is valid 4/20/20 through 4/24/20. While supplies last. Limit 2 per member.
I hear most of the lag problems are fixed in the Arlo Pro 3 and Ultra if you have the cameras plugged in instead of using it on battery mode.
That being said, I'm debating in getting the Arlo Pro 3 vs the Ultra. I hear that to unlock most of the features (such as recording in 4k) of the Ultra requires their highest tier subscription plan. Also the Ultra 4k is mediocre at best.

I concur. I installed Eufcam in front and back and changing the doorbell to Eufy Door Bell. My neighbors have similar complains about Ring and they're quite impresses with my Eufycam. We compared side by side, Eufycam takes at most about 3 seconds. Ring takes about 5-8 seconds.
Eufy has both, wired and wireless version. Just research because I believe one of those record and stores on device itself but they've been saying in near future update will sync all devices to the hub which is used for cameras. I have a Mediterran style house so two poles in the front partially block my view since my doorbell in on the right side of door. My only option is wireless. I have just taped my Ring on the door and will put Eufy there also.
Edit: Also no monthly fees for Eufy. When I told my neighbors that, their eyes lit up as $10 saving adds up. Heck, one year and you've saved enough to buy an extra camera

Tons of 1 star reviews saying otherwise about monthly fees. Costco is saving no monthly fees, and they were told this by Arlo, but that hasn't been the case (sounds like a sneaky marketing where customer could use it without monthly fees but only with limited functionality. For full functionality, they require monthly fees). This is based on the reviews.

My response was to Eufy brand not Ring my friend. I will not use Arlo and Ring. We have enough monthly fees. With Netflix, Disney, Hulu, Internet, Cable. Oh yeah car, house, lol

oh ok. my bad. I would clarify that in your post though. Because you added that "Edit" separate from the main body of your message, it looks as though you are saying that about this deal.

Note for best results wire to power, otherwise most battery powered cloud systems encounter performance issues. Wired IP PoE systems typically produce better images and are more reliable compared to WiFi cloud dependent cameras.
FYI - theoretical ID distance for the Arlo 4K:
Arlo 4K 180° Diagonal FOV ( 158° H FOV ): 13.93 feet { }
Thus if you plan to use this to potentially ID someone you will need to place the camera within 14 feet of the suspects face, and able to get a good angle to get a decent chance at a good facial ID shot.
