depending on your city or county services, you may be able to schedule a junk removal pickup. We get one free one a year. That's how I get rid of stuff I no longer need.

Just bought my picky ten year old foam mattress in box from Costco for $110 on sale Simmons brand and it's amazing. She's trilled. I put it in my car and it was done. Not a terrible foam smell as well.

I needed a mattress recently and after doing some research bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H2RSA88 [amazon.com] ($275 + tax for queen size). No idea how long or how well it it will last, but so far (two weeks of use) my wife and I like it. It has a pretty decent review from Consumer Reports (better than some $3K mattresses), but I did not always had luck with CR's recommendations. Regarding the mattress in a box question, this was our first one (we had an 8" Tempur-Pedic for almost 15 years) and it is fine. We slept on it on the same day we got it. Did not notice any smell or anything.

Which model did you buy? I want to buy one for my 8-yr old but Costco's website has a Simmons one for $169. I'd hate to drive to the warehouse (and possible crowd) and find out they don't have it at a warehouse nearby. Thanks.

Both! This mattress uses a combination of coil springs and a top layer of memory foam combined to give you a softer, more supportive mattress. I bought this back in January one of the many times it's been on Slickdeals. I had never had a memory foam before and had been nervous I wouldn't like it coming from a traditional mattress but it's been great. Extremely comfortable though hard to say how the durability is but also for this price I won't be upset if it doesn't last as long as a traditional mattress.

I had also never heard of buydigg and was a bit nervous ordering from them but I have nothing but good things to say. I needed to call customer service at one point with my order and it was a short wait time with very friendly and helpful customer service.
