QA Edit: Seems the 50% off appliance part of this deal may have died but users as of today 5/1 still say they're getting the 50% off on open box TVs still. So we will let this thread stay in Hot Deals for another day or so, for users that still can get it.
------------------------

I was shopping around for a new washer/dryer, and picked out a pair by LG. Called in to the store to find out what might be damaged on the washer since you can't go in and see it. The Best Buy website lists the open box price as $695.99. They went over and looked at it, told me about the scuffs, and then mentioned "oh, and the open-box promotion brings it down to $347.99

I bought it, then called the other Best Buy that had the matching dryer, also as open-box. I asked them what was wrong with it, and about the price since "another Best Buy said you're running an open box promotion" and we all know that could be specific to one location or whatnot. The guy on the phone said the price I got the washer for was crazy, he'd never heard of such a thing. He went to explain that open box pricing changes all the time depending on the new item sale prices etc, but he'd ask his manager. He came back and said that there's an additional coupon he has to scan, for 50% off open box major appliances. The Geek Squad extended warranty price is based on the price you pay, not MSRP, so that also goes down in price should you be interested.

Pricing on the website does NOT reflect this promotion. You must call the store so they can scan the coupon, and pay over the phone. My order doesn't show any SKU for a coupon, just the super-low price.

Will that barcode work for TVs too? Or is there a different code?
Based upon the BB email I saw the TV deal does not require a barcode. The markdown should be in there system. I was able to pick up a 55" Samsung Q80 for 800

I am guessing the license plate is different than just the item UPC, as, even providing a store with the discount SKU and the product SKU, he was unable to get the 50% off.

Tried to grab a 82 inch Q900 open-box. Two stores with them available said the 50% off applies to MSRP and not the open-box price.

Instead of $2,800 the price would be $3,500. Still a good price but decided to pass.

Tried on a handful of appliances but no dice. Went with the LG OLED and it was automatically knocked down to $1099.

So as an average Joe, we cannot enter the barcode and get the discount online?

argh need to have a truck
This is my dilemma too. I want a range, over range microwave, and fridge. The range and microwave I think I could fit into the car OK. But the fridge I'm looking at is a beast and would require renting a truck. There is a Home Depot really close to the BB so I could do that. The other problem of course is going to be unloading all this stuff after bringing it home AND getting in inside our place - oven range wouldn't be an issue I think/hope but the fridge would be a major PITA - I'm in a condo so limited space and plenty of corners and standard doorways to deal with... heck, when I bought the junky fridge that we currently have from Sears years ago, they had trouble getting it through the doorway in the kitchen and had to remove the doors to get it through and *still* managed to leave a nice dent in the molding. And that was for a relatively small fridge too.... can't imagine dealing with anything much bigger. Hmm, maybe I'll just concede to getting an oven and microwave - my issue with that though is mismatched brands (GE range and Samsung microwave lol)

Guys, there's no need for a barcode or anything. This is based off of a SKU they add to the transaction with the open box item. See my attachment. I don't know if this requires "satisfactory" condition or not, but I have had success calling in on both a 77" OLED and a new fridge. This SKU is the key that unlocks the discount. Good luck!

No, you can't use this online. It's for open box items currently sitting in the store.

Thanks for the response. I am bit tied so won't be able to go pick up today. But did yours come with the base and remote?

Would be nice to know your thoughts on the TV once you're home. I have a 40" Sony LCD from 2010 that's still going strong.
Just finished setting it up and I am very impressed but I'm going from a 5 year old Sharp Aquos that was $700 brand new that just crapped out last night. Mine came with the base and remote but no box, looks to have been a floor model. It was all bubble wrapped when I picked it up.

I was willing to pay the $1799 for it with the newegg deal I found yesterday so picking this up for $999 + tax is just icing on the cake.

Good luck with yours!

I'm in that area. I guess you tried Columbus Blvd? What did they tell you?
