QA Edit: Seems the 50% off appliance part of this deal may have died but users as of today 5/1 still say they're getting the 50% off on open box TVs still. So we will let this thread stay in Hot Deals for another day or so, for users that still can get it.
------------------------

I was shopping around for a new washer/dryer, and picked out a pair by LG. Called in to the store to find out what might be damaged on the washer since you can't go in and see it. The Best Buy website lists the open box price as $695.99. They went over and looked at it, told me about the scuffs, and then mentioned "oh, and the open-box promotion brings it down to $347.99

I bought it, then called the other Best Buy that had the matching dryer, also as open-box. I asked them what was wrong with it, and about the price since "another Best Buy said you're running an open box promotion" and we all know that could be specific to one location or whatnot. The guy on the phone said the price I got the washer for was crazy, he'd never heard of such a thing. He went to explain that open box pricing changes all the time depending on the new item sale prices etc, but he'd ask his manager. He came back and said that there's an additional coupon he has to scan, for 50% off open box major appliances. The Geek Squad extended warranty price is based on the price you pay, not MSRP, so that also goes down in price should you be interested.

Pricing on the website does NOT reflect this promotion. You must call the store so they can scan the coupon, and pay over the phone. My order doesn't show any SKU for a coupon, just the super-low price.

Be happy. Plenty of stores won't even give it on their open box TV's unless you are an actual employee now.

Stopped by the local BB and talked to one of the managers I know. It is friends and family and applicable to tvs and major appliances. Appliances are the better deal as they are 50% off the open box price. Tvs are 50% off the current selling price not open box price. The store is closed to customers except for pick up so I couldn't actually go see the tvs I was interested in buying. They did tell me if they were still mounted on the wall or in a box(returned). I'm reluctant to buy a tv that has been on display....some for several months or more. They did recommend the extended warranty (the manager knows I NEVER buy these) as they are based on the current selling price of the tv but you get full replacement cost if the tv craps out.

Stores are clearly all over the board on this promotion but the local manager did tell me that they would honor until the end of the month if not beyond (our state is on stay home orders until at least May 3).

Called two stores.
Both confirmed that open box satisfactory or below appliances + TVs are 50% off. One even tried to put the code in for an excellent condition but it didn't work. He offered to take another $100 off but I declined.
The second store had an LG C9 satisfactory available (only box missing but base and remote available). $1100 + $100 gift card and I bought the 2 yr BB warranty for $149.

Now the question is, which one should I keep?
LG C9 for $1100
Sony A8G for $999.99 (missing remote and base/stand)

Thank You

Picked up a C9 for 900+ change, and a Q90 for 1100, will choose the one I like the most. I also bought the extended 2 year warranty.. on each. Total for both after taxes was 2600.. not bad all things considered. The Q90 is missing the stand and the remote, the LG has everything both are in 65". Had to drive back to pick up the 2nd unit, when I picked up the 2nd TV was told BB made TV's employees only, appliances for F/F.. I only need one TV, my room is very bright due to 2 floor height with massive windows and skylights.. was reading C9 may not be optimal. I only need 1 TV.. willing to part locally with one of these once I figure out which one works for the room. If someone in the newtown PA area and interested PM me.. Also OP you ROCK! I am getting appliances now as well.

Despite the ending, it does not, in fact, have GPS. It's super quiet. You can really only tell it's running by the lights and the occasional waste water discharge into the sink drain.
Thanks that's the same one they had in stock here. would be about 500

I hope the end of the month/May 3 is true. I'm okay with the TV I got but I'd rather the 55 instead of a 50" for a bunch of feature reasons. What region are you in?

Honestly, in my situation where I wanted to buy an open box gas dryer which most likely someone used and returned it and I wouldn't get to see the actual condition of it until it was paid for and they wheeled it out to the curb, plus I was going to buy the pedestal at the full price of $275 and that is almost all profit plus the extended warranty and that is also very profitable, Best Buy should have been more then happy to extend the sale to everyone or at least rewards members.

Tried another time with the Boise ID store, told them I had a friend that worked at another store that gave me the coupon. They said I'd have to have them buy the oven for me from the other store (they could then hold it at their store). So, long story short I'm still looking for a friend that works at the Boise or Nampa ID Best Buys. Most reps are nice I just can't get them to budge on giving me the discount.

Called bestbuy Torrance about open box fridge. They had it, said they can honor the 50% off but starting today they weren't doing over the phone orders. Would have to order online and then call corporate to price correct after order placed. Of course I call corporate (India) and they said there is nothing that can do and to call back store. Store has no idea what to do. Fun!

I was mistaken. Nj seems to be county by county. Some counties are curbside pickup.
I'm in NY. Stores just say closed for BB and GameStop. Impossible to pickup.

I got shot down by one store out of three in Tucson (the one on Drexel Rd wanted an employee ID number to go along with the SKU). Oro Valley took some finagling, but I got them to give me the discount. The one in SW Tucson said all they need is the coupon SKU and he didn't even ask a manager for approval.

I got an LG top load washing machine w/ 5 yr Geek squad for $560 and a Samsung electric dryer w/ 5 yr Geek Squad for $421. I will be picking them up today. Bot are black stainless steel in Satisfactory condition.

Both stores accepted my credit card info over the phone.
dTorOmg... I'm in Tucson, too! I owe you a beer.
I'll take that beer now
