Just got this (exact) machine in yesterday. Pretty nice, it definitely gets warm, especially during setup. Previous machine was MBP 15" 2015 and I definitely prefer this one - the screen is a lot nicer.

It's definitely not as "capable", but I replaced the MBP with a desktop and now I can get away with a smaller portable for lighter stuff. Overall I recommend it.

As a heads up - Apple has an extended return policy for now while their storefronts are closed. You get until 2 weeks after they open their stores back up to return anything you order right now from Apple direct. Best Buy has something along the same lines, but I believe right now they have specified end of May. This store may have something similar although likely less lenient since it is only online (I believe?).

I mention this because it could be a backup to return this laptop should they release the MBP 14 and you prefer to buy that. Myself, I'm skeptical that the base price will be reasonable and also I like physical function buttons. But, you'd still have the option if you feel compelled.

Overall, I definitely recommend this laptop if you're an Apple user and don't need it for professional work.
The i3 in the 2020 is still faster than the dual-core i5 in the previous model so even with the "slower" processor it's still a ~25% speed boost over the 2018.

New keyboard, double the storage, faster processor? No brained to get the 2020 model over 2019

This is an intriguing deal. Ram is the only thing holding me back. Better than the 4gb on my 2014 that still runs well... may go for it anyway.

Anyone complaining about 256gb needs to learn how to cloud or how to nas

Possibly, but that will also be at least $400 than this deal. Depends on what you need from a laptop.

I'm really tempted on this.
Do you think there's any chance Amazon or Best Buy will match?

Not a good deal

Same price as education Mac store

Thermals on this device are horrendous

Fans spin up and sound very loud, unit gets hot with basic web browsing and watching Youtube

Unacceptable for any laptop let alone a laptop costing $1000+

Wait for the Macbook Pro 13 (14) refresh, stay away from this it's almost as bad as the butterfly keyboard issue
