If you get a cheap usb c male to usb a female dongle it will work with switch in portable mode, you'll just have the usb dongle sticking out of the bottom of the switch

I've had the old version for years. The ear cups did indeed start to shed but they are easily replaceable for $10-$15 on Amazon. Did this last year, good as new.

The headset does work with Nintendo switch! Love it for both PS4 and switch. Just plugs into a USB port on the dock. But unfortunately, that's correct in saying it needs to be in docked mode to use the wireless headset.
