Sager NP8458F2-S (Clevo PB51DF2) 144Hz nVidia RTX 2070 Super 8GB, 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10875H (8 core) - $1,488.67 (no tax for many) via Gentech PC

Nice deal with liquid metal on CPU, ICQ Diamond on GPU and Fujiopoly pads. Also includes dead pixel warranty. No tax for many - I usually get hit with tax on these deals but not here! Use code edu at check out for final price. If you pay with cash or check you can get another 3% off. However the 24 months of additional warranty was a better option for me on my Citi card. MAKE SURE AND ADD THE FREE DEALS. This does not include windows but windows 10 pro keys are under $10. Note that this laptop has the mux bios option to enable discrete graphics only or optimus for battery life.

I posted a Sager deal from GentechPC yesterday. I paid for mine with a debit card, but was still able to get the 3% discount by applying coupon code "cash". No shipping and tax made mine a great deal, plus I like being able to install windows myself and avoid any bloatware or spyware.

They have some great deals going on with the latest generations of hardware. With the free upgraded cooling solutions, they should perform very well.

Pretty good deal. Performance should be close to an RTX 2080 laptop. Also great to start seeing faster memory in laptops again.

Two RAM slots, which is common for almost all laptops, with the exception of some "desktop replacements" which can have 4.

Is the $300 difference between the 2060 and the 2070 worth it?

Definitely get the 2070S if you can afford it. If not, the 2060 would still be pretty good in things like gaming and video editing.

This is important information to have thank you. It is probably best to hold on to one 16GB stick for now then (instead of two 8gb sticks) so that the upgrade to 32gb won't be as costly.

One thing that's given me some pause ordering from these custom laptop shops is the mixed experience people have posted online.

I had some pretty bad experiences with smaller shops and websites in the early days of the internet sending me lower specs than ordered or not shipping at all, but had protection from credit cards. There's a reason that places like Amazon, Newegg, and Walmart became very popular.

Many people had good experiences with this and similar sites when they got what ordered, but the prevailing sentiment online is that these custom shops sometimes send lower configs than ordered, or send used/refurbished as new, or don't actually repair anything properly.

If you pay with debit you're SOL if you have any problems. If you pay with credit and have problems you can file a chargeback and be protected.

Make sure you test within the return / chargeback window for any problems. Otherwise, these laptops are probably okay, but please shop safely.

Just a little too rich for my blood - any deals in the $1k range? Have a kid begging for a good gaming laptop.
