This is not that great of a deal for a base model. The absolute version (with more attachments and the soft roller head) has been this low before, and multiple times at $250 (including straight from dyson.com with the extra 3 free attachments).

I have 4 cats and can say I have used it to suck up tons of cat fur and litter and it does a great job of filtering the air. I have used other vacuums in the past that caused my allergies to flare up when using them but not this one. I recently used it to clean up after patching some drywall and it cleaned up all the drywall dust with no dust being expelled from the unit itself.
Wow, you really just sold me on this. I've never had a Dyson. Thank you more than you know!

Does anyone else have a problem with their battery dying on these dyson cordless vacs? I've replaced mine and can't seem to find one that lasts more than a few months.

Are you certain its the battery? I watched many YT videos which IDed a dirty filter (not the exhaust one, the intake one thats cone-shaped) as the cause for sudden cut-offs. Cleaning that fixed it. Going on just over 3 yrs with my v6; got a v10 recently for the longer run-time.

Im terrified at the idea of having to swim through the sea of generic batteries on Amazon to find a good replacement (already been through that with wife's MBP...I did not come out a winner). However, this is precisely what CC warranty extension is for!

We had issue with battery V7, replaced with off market one (from ebay) and was working OK but not nearly as brand new. For the price Dyson sold brand new battery we decided to just get a new one instead.

Bottom line the higher is the number of model, the better vacuum is both in terms of suction power and battery life.
V7 and V8 we had were great for quick task, let's say to mop kitchen floor quickly. When I needed to vacuum my car mats, mats itself and the floor, V7 and V8 didn't have big enough battery to finish this task. The most annoying part was the battery stopped working without any warning in the middle of usage. V11 has battery indicator (low, mid, and full) and overall works long enough to finish entire house on one charge which is amazing.
I have Dyson small ball, and V11, both working great. Before I've got my first Dyson I had no idea how dusty my floors were AFTER the usage of another 100$ vacuum. I was blown away and never looked back.
Per Dyson website, V7's battery will last for 2-5 years and then will require replacement. V11's battery will last 15 years.
To summarize, if you going to use it for about 15 minutes on highest suction, I would get V7 or V8, but if you want longer run on one charge, look into V10 or V11. V11 is the most powerfull model on the market.
Here is a good side by side comparison: https://moderncastle.com/dyson-v7-vs-v11/

FYI.

I always buy mine directly from Dyson. They will match and often are lower than other stores. Comes preregistered. A few months back, we paid $ 299 for the V8 that included virtually every optional attachment. At the time, Best Buy was $ 150 more.

Bought the V8 Animal from Bed Bath and Beyond for 240+tax yesterday (used 20% off coupon). Would have preferred the V10 but went with a new one over a refurb.

Costco has the V8 animal + for $299 on sale now. I got it a few months ago and love it. Plenty of power and the battery lasts long enough to do my entire 1500 sq ft 1st floor on one charge.
BJs club has it for $249 right now.

I own the v6 trigger, v10, and the dyson ball animal upright. I can say that the power on the v10 is significantly better than on the v6. The battery on the v6 died in about a 1.5 yrs but dyson replaced it without a question during the warranty period. We picked up the v10 during a sale last November at bed bath beyond that let us apply the 20% coupon for whatever reason and it came out to $275. We couldn't pass it up at that price. The stick vacuums are great for stairs and our hardwood downstairs while we use the ball for carpeted areas upstairs. The upright animal sucked up nasty stuff the old owners left behind - assuming they were using a lesser vacuum or never vacuumed at all. The premium on these machines is totally worth with the great suction power and the washable hepa filters.

What Dyson model is best for hard wood floors? I'm always concerned that I'll scratch the floors while vacuuming.
