IIRC from the LTT video, yeah. The 'new' ones are branded Evoo now or something like that.

I've spent a year with the machine now. I'd say it's money well-spent. Despite being Walmart-branded, it's surprisingly well built. The performance is on par with any other machine similar size/weight at its time. The configuration for the price at this day is still a good bid. My only complain is the keyboard. Typing is not very pleasant on it. Other than that I'm really happy.

Wow, a GTX 1060? Weren't people complaining that the ASUS with a Ryzen 5 cpu and a RTX 2060 for $830 was extremely overpriced? People were also complaining about how that CPU would be maxed out way before the GPU can get near it's limits. There was another thread with the OP trolling everyone and typing out essay length responses.

EDIT: Found the ASUS deal from last week:

I can't say I've ever seen a laptop with a 'mechanical' keyboard...

I don't think this is a good deal but having a GTX 1060 doesn't automatically make this worse than the TUF.
TUF's screen for one is considerably worse. 30ms compared to 10-15ms response times. 60% srgb vs 95% srgb. 120hz vs 144hz.
The 8750H is a considerably more powerful than the 3550h and will actually close the gap between the 1060 and 2060 in some games.
There's also the keyboard. The OP's keyboard, while loud, actually feels great to use. The TUF's keyboard is pretty bad.

But yea $800 just seems like an "acceptable" price for a refurb unit. $700 would be a good deal.

Good points. I guess it's a trade off considering it's a refurb unit too.

This intel's 8750H has a benchmark of 10300 while the Asus' Ryzen 5 3550H gets 8105 according to cpubenchmark.net. If the Intel 8750H gets maxed out before the 1060, I guess it makes sense that the cap is extremely limiting on the ASUS's Ryzen 3550H.
