Good bookshelves. I have a 5.1 setup of them currently, along with the center.
I am going to get the Infinity rs162s and the rc163, and compare which I like.
Maybe I'll keep a pair of the sony's for some desktop speakers, and sell the rest.
Wont make much, but they are speakers worth more than what they sell for when on sale.

How do you like the center? I have the bookshelves paired with my old 5.1 HTIB and the center on that seems muffled on a lot of movies.

Yep, pretty much the same experience, of it being muffled.
I eventually used of of the sony rear bookshelves as a center instead.
Then I compensated the rears with the other single bookshelf, and the center.
I was skeptical of this setup, but it actually works, and able to get the proper sound quality out of the 5.1 setup. Obviously one of the rears is slightly muffled, and a little weird if you do stereo comparisons, but as a rear, it matters much less then the front 3.

I have an older Onkyo 5.1 and the voices in movies sound a little muddy so looking to upgrade my center but don't want to spend a lot. Any thoughts on this Sony for improving voice clarity? I also noticed on Bestbuy, Polk has a center on sale.

Any thoughts on the Polk?

Thanks

I replaced Onkyo front L,R and middle HTIB with sony core bookshelf, 3 of which for L, R and middle standing vertical, the improvement is instant. Strongly recommend.

How would those compare to the Monoprice 5.1.2 set https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=33831 currently selling for 250? Similar 5.1.2 setup by Sony using sale prices is going to be slightly over 400. Worth it?

Update: after some thought, decided to pull the trigger on the Sony setup (just 5.1) through Abt.com. After 6% cash back, the total is going to be a hair under $300.

I have/had most of these - the Bookshelves and Towers are the best of the bunch by far. I haven't tried the Atmos toppers, but the price is great for a pair.

The Center Channel is decent but it's a step down from the older sony model (the grey speakers with the yellow cones) in size and output.

The only one I can't recommend at all is the subwoofer. Wasn't expecting much, but this thing was just a joke all around. Cheap plastic finish and terrible output. I believe it's rated for just around 100w peak.
