FAQs:
  • Yes, you can hook this up to your TV, PC, or AVR, even though it was originally designed to be used as nearfield studio monitors. You can also use a pre-amp streamer, such as a Wiim Ultra.
You will need RCA-to-XLR cables (Amazon) and some $15-35 Audio Adapters with volume control if using your TV's audio output jack.
  • Yes, *some* people report an audible "hiss" but this may be avoided by using RCA-to-XLR cables as well as not maxing out the gain controls on the speakers themselves.
And more importantly, given Amazon's easy free return policy, you can easily send this back if you are in the minority of folks who experience this problem. If you find that you are not in that minority, then you can sit back and enjoy some incredible sound out of these speakers for super dirt cheap! You could easily spend upwards of $1K for a pair of bookshelf speakers and amp, and still not come close to them in simple sound quality.

Great studio monitors. I keep reading about hiss but I had these connected to a couple of different laptops (upgraded) using a Line 6 Amplifi TT audio interface, and then to a Linux server using a Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 audio interface, and have never noticed any hiss. I bought the JBL 306Ps when they were on sale several years back, connected to the Amplifi TT, and no hiss from those either. The settings on the back of all the speakers were only adjusted to accommodate for the distance from the wall. I also use XLR to 1/4" cable to connect like these.
