This price is lower than the lowest price available for this speed from a branded flash drive

It's a good deal indeed. But how does it compare to SanDisk?

Sandisk is a pioneer in memory cards but the cheapest 256gb for this speed is Extreme pro variant which is around $68 - cheapest price as of now unless you have some cash back deals.. But this Samsung is $43 a difference of $25 is the solid deal

It's been this price $43-$44 for a while, been keeping my eye on it for a bit. It's seems to kinda be the regular price point for this on amazon.

Yep, pretty regular. I believe the good price is $40. Last year I bought quite a few including two 512GB for $79 each I believe.

I really like this drive. I have the 256GB version, it is stylish, feels very solid in hand and has a nice weight to it (for its size, it is still a tiny, thing), speeds are OK but nothing great. It gets pretty warm during prolonged writing sessions.

The gray version is definitely more classy, but if you pair it with your keys and whatnot, expect it to develop scratches.

Overall, I like it and would buy again.

What's this about much faster new models?

It seems it's all about making flash drives slower and slower, especially write speeds. My earliest USB 3.0 flash drives are still the fastest. Buying the exact same models 2 years later I see the write speed cut by more than half.

This is more expensive than an SSD. Does it make sense to get it besides the smaller size?
