Not sure if this is a deal or not. Moreso posting to get info about the TV itself and how it's picture compares to other series'. I've looked everywhere and can't find any information on it. There's even a guy on YouTube asking if anyone knows anything about it. Is anyone here familiar with the picture quality or where it stands? Local dimming zones, etc? I'm in the market myself.

Samsung keeps going downmarket with their tvs so by now this is basically an entry level model with no local dimming, Although this one might be 120hz panel at least, no quantum dots, maybe a wide color gamut. Rtings.com reviewed the Q60T this year which is 1 step above this model basically and it didnt have local dimming, reached about 475 nits peak brightness, does have a quantum dot filter but not the "good" one the higher end models have.

Kind of disappointing where Samsung has gone, I remember back in the days of the KS8000 when it was one of the top dogs in the middle of their lineup with quantum dots, local dimming, 120hz panel, got ridiculously bright (1400+ nits), etc...

Overall though not a bad price for a Samsung 75" that isn't completely bargain basement specs

In your opinion, what would be the best bang for buck in the 1K-$1300 range for a 75"? I feel like the TCL 6-series is a beast, but also feels like $1300 is overpaying? Would the Q6 be the best option at the same price, an open box for a higher-end model from Best Buy like a Sony X900 series or wait for a better deal on the TCL?

Yes, but when I look at the reviews on rtings, the picture rating usually goes up with the higher series, of course. The RU8000 is only rated at 7.2 for movies, which would be the primary use for my set. I'd much rather have a better picture, than a larger screen at the same price point. Does this set being a series higher mean the picture is probably better, getting closer to the 8.0 mark for movies or is it just a marketing scheme?

Hard to say because that's a tough too cheap price point for a GOOD 75" IMO. TCL 8 series is a bit more but you get a lot more. Thin kthat was $1700 most recently?

Vizio P Quantum X got close to that but I honestly would never buy another vizio product after our P Quantum set we got. Spec wise it's very good, in practice, not a fun set to live with.

This really isn't bad for the price, but you can do a lot better if you spend a bit more. Understandable if people dont want to go up to $1500-$2000 range though, I'd just get a higher end 65" at that point at under $1500 but I've also been spoiled by higher end pictures, it would be tough to "Downgrade" to something with very low brightness and not as good color.

I hear you, unfortunately, I'm dead set on 75". I have a 65" Sony X930D in my bedroom that I love and got for $900. I was hoping to get the same quality with 10 more inches for the living room at an extra 3-400. Maybe that's just wishful thinking or I should wait it out for something Frontpage to hit.

Can still get a Q80 (2019) 75" for $1500 open box or a Sony X950G 75" for 1200-1500 open box at best buy depending where you live, those are what I would go for. Or a Q70 75" for $1100 same method

Costco has the superior warranty if that matters though even though personally none of my tvs have ever failed me including my old 1080p samsung thats over 12 years old

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Basically if you're intent on the $1300 limit, you play the panel lottery with a Hisense H8G. Bar none you will not get a better value at $1300. At $1500 you can go Vizio PX75 but it has 120hz pwm so you might see flickering if you're sensitive to that. At $1600 to $1700 you can get a Sony X900F. In fact, you can maybe get it for $1500 on the GreenToe deal which there is another thread about.

I just paid up $1700 and got the Sony from Amazon just because I know how the return will work with them. Not sure I want to deal with the hassle of trying to return a 100lb monster box to some random retailer through greentoe or dealing with their "repair process".

Thanks, I am leaning toward going with the X900F Open Box-Satisfactory w/ 2-Year Geek Squad from Best Buy for $1295 OTD. I know the one at Greentoe is new, but it's 200 more + it will charge tax here in MI, and I will still need to add an extended warranty over the Sony one. I also like the benefit of being able to go to a Best Buy if I have any problems. For that reason, I think I'm going to stay with either something from Best Buy + Geek Squad or Costco with their included warranty.
