This is one of those budget low-rip capacity saws; their rip fences don't extend beyond the edge of the saw top. Better saws with much larger rip capacity can be had for $200-250 when on sale, and I'd consider the extra expense worth it.

Don't buy this table saw.

Or, at the very least, if you're on a budget ... don't buy this table saw.

This is pretty visibly a recolor of the old Porter Cable table saw they'd blow out regularly. It was the first table saw I ever owned and, knowing nothing about good table saws, it was still obviously a dangerous piece of junk. I returned it to Lowes, but I guess I was still on file as a recall notice showed up for it recently.

Table saws are a safety hazard by default. Don't buy this table saw.

IMHO... if you're doing carpentry, this saw might be adequate if you can overcome the narrow rip capactiy. If you're doing woodworking, like craft type stuff, cabinets, tables and such... save your dosh. This thing is way too sloppy for any kind of precision woodworking.

Wow that stand looks rickety. Is that some sort of plastic brace at the pivot point? The whole thing looks like a TV tray.

I started my short wood working journey by buying a Craftsman Evolv table saw. Hopefully they have improved since the Sears sell-off because that thing was horribad. The fence and miter gauge were painful to use. The best thing on it was the solid cage style stand, but the one on this saw looks pretty rickety.

Just be careful if you decide to go with this. I've since learned you never really want to go full cheap on something like a table saw. There have been some sweet DeWalt deals kicking around lately.

This exactly. The few dollars you save on a cheap saw you will quickly spend back in frustration and spoiled wood. Even the very best artisan can only make polished rubbish with rubbish tools.

well now im 2nd guessing that $300 home depot one. the other one does have wheels and is portable though.

I have this table saw, it isn't as bad as some are making it sound. Maybe I got lucky and bought a good one, but if you're just dipping your toes into wood working, your work space is constrained, or you don't want to shell out the required amount for a step up, I think this is a decent deal. I'm not sure that anyone claiming it is inaccurate has actually cut on it?

Funny that you mention that. We bought 4 to keep in the family room, just for frozen pizza night. The kids are complaining the table is too high, but I find it's ok, at least when I remove the fence and blade guard. Definitely not a lot of knee room though!

it is a metal brace. The center of gravity is such that it doesn't tip over. With that being said I plan to build a table around it so I'm not too worried about the stand. For most DIYers it will suffice.

Stay away. This is not a deal. Get a saw that has some user base. This will be produced for only a short period of time out of some who knows where Chinese factory and they will all end up in a landfill shortly. There is not even a product page for this thing on the web, what kind of support do you think you will get?

A general word of warning on this saw but that goes for just about any Craftsman branded product. If something breaks or you want some part or accessory you are on your own. Parts are often not even available and/or you you will pay through the nose for them if they are. Craftsman also has a cruel and horrible way of making things proprietary when there is no need. Want an aftermarket miter gauge hold down or feather-board you are screwed, you won't find one to fit. They make it proprietary and then don't even have sense enough to make parts available for those that were unlucky enough to purchase.

Really not much of deal when a similar Ryobi only runs $189 regular price. If you are in desperate need for something for casual that or the 8 1/4" Ryobi table saw for $119 will probably function as well as this one and at least you will have a little more chance of being able to get a part. They at least have product pages support and parts available.

Don' t get me wrong,I'm not trying to be tool snob here and actually used a similar cheap and quirky Skil branded saw when I first took to woodworking. But will say that a cheap saw is not just irritating it is also dangerous. Fences and gauges that may or wiggle during a cut can add up to catastrophe. It also takes much of the joy and fun out of woodworking. Day of fiddling with trying to get a good cut is not a day of getting something done and is no fun.
