WIX FTW. Both cheaper and better than K&N.

What bike are you riding?

You couldn't pay me to use one of these ever again. Had one on my Triumph Sprint GT. I was riding through the mountains when my oil light came on. Immediately hit the kill switch and pulled over. Entire bottom and back of my motorcycle to include the rear tire was covered in oil. The filter blew out where one of the tack welds was holding on the plate with the nut on it. Stuck in the mountains, no cell service. Finally a nice motorist pulled over and took me an hour round trip to get a new filter and some oil. The oil trail was almost 5 miles long. How my bike did not go down is a miracle because the whole back tire was covered in oil.

Anyway, it's a widespread problem and even after K&N said they fixed the problem people are still experiencing blowouts. K&N took my information and the oil filter and said it wasn't their problem and basically told me to eff off. I will never buy another K&N product as long as I live.

Is it really worth it to risk your life by using one of these?? I could have lost control and crashed into an oncoming motorist. STAY AWAY!

Hmm, haven't heard this before but haven't really researched oil filters either. I just bought this the beginning of the week, I was gonna pickup from advanced auto but price was high so checked Amazon and figured I'd buy and wait to do my oil change on my bike (first time I'm doing myself, usually I've paid a shop to do it).

It is suppose to be delivered today and was gonna do the oil change on Sunday. What oil filter do you recommend if these are bad? Amazon reviews are 5 starts.

I was a little surprised to see the exact filter that I needed and ordered for my bike, bike filters already kind of niche as OP posted.

I used to use k&n filters but there were a bunch of problems starting a few years ago. Guy at my trackdays blew the threads off of his k&n filter at the end of the straight when he was doing 150mph. Imagine having to slow a bike down when it's shitting oil everywhere.

I use Hi-Flow filters now. They manufacture filters for many OEMs. They cost about $14 a piece. If you want to stock up on them they sell for $6 in Europe

A bunch of track and race orgs have banned these pos' - they became garbage after they stopped using HiFlo to make their filters and went to save a few cents with a Chi-Com maker.
HiFlo or OEM.

For automotive I use wix filters, for my motorcycle I use nothing but hi-flo.

Thanks, ordered a Hi-Flo. I wouldn't have had time to do the oil change this past weekend anyway. The k&n from Amazon is free returns so I'll just ship it back.
